How to lubricate a door lock

I gotta get some as soon as possible, I almost messed up a couple weeks back when I almost put some WD40 in it, which would have gummed it up later. Glad I thought to look up stuff like this, I learned something, thanks.

It's a lot easier to put the graphite powder on the key first because it goes right inside the lock.

Just got the keys to my new apartment today and it’s Friday… went to my place after work to just make sure the key worked and I can’t get the lock to turn it’s very stiff so I got some of this from Home Depot so I’m really hoping it works because I wanna start moving my stuff in and I don’t want to wait until Monday when the office is open. I have been starting having problems inserting the key. It wouldn't go all the way. And if I got it in, it wouldn't turn. One day, I was afraid I was locked out of my house until I was able to get it in and it turned. I thought I was going to have to replace the lock. I had stopped using the deadbolt unless I was inside because of the same thing. I think I will try the graphic lubicant to see if that would solve my problem first.

cool, need this. cannot lock my security door dead bolt from the outside because key will not even work to begin with. I knew I needed Graphite, now to go get it. Wonder if a dollar store would have it...or probably Lowes...but quicker from dollar store, maybe cheaper too.

OK we get it the damn key won't go in! Jesus that was half the video.

I prefer the WD-40 dry spray, comes in a spray bottle with the straw and gets into the lock better

My wife also likes it when it goes in "EASY" very easy.

Would you use it on a lock that doesn't stick? My employer had me do a few puffs and now complains it was to much.

Use simple machine oil or bike mobil oil it also work great

Your first mistake was buying that defiant deadbolt lock. They are not well made.

How well does this lubricate your lungs?

NO, graphite is bad and will gunk things up worse in the long run

Don’t use graphite, USE TRI FLO

WD-40 is the much better option.
