yes, temporarily, as it will attract dust, dirt and eventually you are back where you started from. DW40 is not silicone-based and this video is suggesting silicone spray-based, which i agree.
The WD in WD-40 stands for water dispersing. WD-40 is thin and works better as a cleaning and penetrating oil. You want something that dries so it doesn't attract dust. Get something that says "dry lube" or "quick drying" like: Super Lube Dri-Film Lubricant
