PrecisionDoor.net provides a detailed instructional on how to properly lubricate a garage door. Invest the 7 minutes to watch the video and we promise you'll be lubricating your garage door like a pro.
Derek, you should have your own television show. Like that cheeky sense of humour and knowledge. If I was in America I’d even use you to repair my garage door
May 21, 2020. Watched your video, purchased a can of white lithium grease and greased my rollers, chain and cable. It completely worked as you instructed. Garage door opens easily where before it hung up and it’s quieter than I ever remember. Saving money doing it myself ain’t to shabby either. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
hello from 2022, i don't know who made this instructional video, but ya'll are fantastic! The little splashes of humor were gold. Exceptional information. Having issues with my garage and now i'm binging all the dyi videos.
My grumpy old man neighbor (whom I adore) jovially complained about my garage door needing greasing to quiet it down. I'm so glad I watched this video instead of letting him show me. I laughed on multiple occasions. It's nice to see some personality in this video. Thank you, Precision!
This is exactly the kind of service video that definitely puts a company at the top of my list for when I have a problem outside of my realm of capability. Thank you!
I've watched hundreds, if not thousands of garage door lube videos. This is by far the best garage door lube video out there.Cant recommend this garage door lube video enough.Garage door lube video.
Excellent video. The content is thorough and perfectly organized, and the technical/video execution are top-end professional. Derek's delivery is TV quality, and his personality and humor are a plus.
I did everything recommended in this presentation and now my noisy 20-ft garage door is running smoothly and as quiet as it was when it was new. Thank you for a great instructional video.
@@peterokpara4451 We just moved and all my shop supplies are still packed away, but I can tell you that it was a spray can with a straw on the nozzle and it was easy as pie to apply the white foamy lithium grease into the rollers and it was also easy to wipe up the excess. It probably came from a store like NAPA.
Thanks. Loved the humor. Bought a Precision Door two years ago and was thinking I needed to replace a second one. After this video, the second door has a new life. But, when it finally meets it end, I will be calling you guys again!
Thanks for the tips and advice. I am watching this because I am helping maintain a condominium complex. It was also helpful to know about the WD-40. I thought I was the only one who ate my cereal that way.
Thank you so much! You didn't just say what to do but also why in easy to understand ways. You're a good teacher and a funny guy! A great combination:). Will be looking for your other videos.
I used this tutorial a couple of years ago, and i'm glad it is still available for the garage door I need to lubricate in my new location. The presentation is very well done, including the humor.
This is my "go to" video for my alternate year garage door lube job. One suggestion: we have a painted garage, so I hold a piece of cardboard between the spring tension bar and the wall before spraying that long spring. Thanks for this video
Interestingly enough, I was not looking for a tutorial on garage door maintenance but saw this to the side looking at another video and decided to watch it. I must say that this was very informative and I found myself saying "I did not know that" in a couple of places. Thank you very much for creating this video. Excellent information with excellent humor.
great video! - I'm a retired G.C. and learned several good tips - the gentleman certainly knows the business and very professional along with a great sense of humor. thank-you!!
Love this! Why can't all home DIY videos be like this. A little creativity, nice production value - shite, we need to have an Oscar ceremony for DIY videos, this one would be on the list!
this is a really great video not only because the content is pertinent and complete but because the delivery was entertaining and engaging .... good job!
As a former garage door opener installer/jack of all trades, I enjoyed your video. I appreciate the refresher of where to lubricate. You made it very clear and easy to understand.
@@suebelzer6536 Okay. However, when dismantled, it is quite nonsensical. I mean, let's use some other examples: burn/burned/burnt - learn/learned/learnt - concern/concerned/concernt - govern/governed/governt? Edit- Ahh... Maybe it works for you weirdos ;-) when using only single syllable words.... mean/meaned/meant? 8-) Can someone clarify this for me?
EXCELLENT video! Thoroughly informative, humorous, and great views of exactly what is being described. Anyone doing garage door maintenance should watch this. I think it’s also a great example for anyone wanting to make a tutorial video. I’ve seen more than a few that are poorly done, but I realize just because someone may be an expert at a certain thing, that may not translate to good filming and editing. This one nails it.
THE video to watch for garage door opener maintenance. Not only did it address, explain, & show everything (every other video I watched showed a tension spring at the front but not the pulley thing I have let alone what if anything to do to it) but there are multiple hits of humor that helped relieve me of not only ignorance but frustration.Thank you!
52 y.o. woman here and I just eliminated the 'noise' coming from garage door opener by following most of the steps in this video. I used SILICON spray because there was some in my garage already and I was too lazy to drive to the store for LITHIUM spray. THANKS ! ! !
Phenomenal video, bro! Thanks so very much for this info! Let me tell you, I just watched this while standing in Home Depot because I was stumped as to why I couldn't find what I thought I needed (a brush-on oil-based product) to lubricate the track. No wonder I couldn't find it anywhere! Equipped with the right info, I grabbed a can of Clopay's Garage Door Pro Lube synthetic spray (only option HD had in the garage door section) and am about to check out. I just had to take a moment and thank you for saving me from giving myself a huge headache! This world needs more educators like you who are selfless and not hoarding info for their own gain. Thanks again, brother!
Thank you my friend for your advise, my bro asked me to grease his garage door and I did the last year. I will send him the link of this video am sure he will benefit from it. He also asked me to design for him a Android operated garage controller, because I am embedded design engineer, and I did - He is very demanding and thinks that I can solve all his problems LOL. I built couple of those Garage Door Controllers and gave him one, now he has the noisy garage problem solved by you once and for all. Thank you again for your valuable video.
This video was absolutely fantastic. Great information (exactly what I was looking for) but the added personality and humor made it watchable as well. Well done Precision!
Great video. The mistake I've been doing is greasing/oiling the tracks. Makes sense that they shouldn't need it. I had an old craftsman chain drive. Broke the top chain socket when I over adjusted. Put on a new belt drive. Wow! Seriously makes zero noise. And I installed those white wheels where the bearings are encased for the garage door. Lowes wanted like $8 for 2. I got a set of 10 from Amazon for $9.99. Finally, I went with a Dow lubricant spray with Teflon. Less messy than the lithium grease I was using. It's made for rollers, conveyors, hinges, basically any moving part. Thanks for the tips on the tracks!!!
I thank you so very much for uploading this funny, informative video. I do most home improvements myself. My garage doesn’t make a sound anymore. Bought the Lithium spray as you suggested and I’m just amazed!!!! You’re truly a blessing, because single females get taking advantage of so often, it’s great we find someone like yourself doing these videos. Have a wonderful day!!!!
Also, if you have metal rollers, I'd highly recommend swapping them out for the white, sealed nylon rollers he shows in this vid. A complete set can be had for less than $20, and they are MUCH quieter rolling up and down in your metal tracks. Great video!
Excellent! Dude! We owe you a beer! You are the first one I've heard of who indicates the torsion spring should be lubricated and I've advocated that for years as it just makes sense. Again, excellent job! Promote this man!!
I followed your directions and now my neighbors won't be mad everytime I open my garage door at 6 in the morning. Thank you. These videos' really help women find solutions to their household issues, without having to ask others for help all the time!!!
This is perfect and succinct video for garage maintenance. We recently started having noise while opening the garage door. Followed step by step instructions and viola, no more noise. Definitely recommend these videos especially if you are a first time homeowner and you don't want to spend a ton of money on super expensive labor costs these days.
Thank you for awesome guide and step by step thorough explanation for lubricating garage doors! Fun and less complexed to understand than other videos out there that make you wanna hit the snooze button out of boredom. Fantastic animation of “do not’s” and overall fun to watch! Thanks for sharing your expertise!
Thank you. You made something, that can be puzzling, simple and easy to understand. Helped me realize some mistakes I’ve made in the past and ways to correct them. Your presentation is a model for others.
tony - so some other comments claim you should NOT use lithium or silicon because it attracts dirt and dust. How did this work for you as you put this comment a year ago??? Thanks. We live in Michigan so freezing temps are an issue.

Excellent Video! Exactly everything recommended by my garage door guy when they replaced my grenaded 12yo torsion spring. Surprised it lasted that long with never lubing it up.
Thank you for this video. I did my garage door for the first time in 19 years. I did everything according to the video. I kept opening and closing it throughout the day to let the lithium grease work in....and it got quieter and quieter running. Sounds and works like a new garage door!
I just had my garage door replaced by Precision and am really happy with the door install that they did. I had one of their own garage door openers in addition to the door. It is really an Linear P800 product but Precisions name is on it. The opener is a belt drive unit and I can hardly hear the door opening and closing now. What a difference from my old worm drive Genie! I highly recommend this company and the products that they sell.
Great stuff. Just spent some money upgrading builders grade doors. This filled in what I need to do to keep them operational. It helped they had exactly the same doors and mechanics. Good job, guys...
Thanks very much. I've made all the rookie mistakes over the years, and a persistent sticking brought me here. I had the right lube (after trying WD-40 :-) but was putting on the wrong side of the rail. Thanks very much, now I can turn down the door closing force from maximum to something a little safer :-)
This is a fairly old video but still has great information that I can use today 20190708. This is not the first time that I've heard that wd40 is NOT a good lubricant. Great video.
