Ever since I started watching your videos and made the step to the safety razor community, I became 'addicted' to shaving, Geo. And the oil tip is one that I'm going to use now. Keep up the good work and greetings from Belgium.

After each shave, I disassemble the razor and then water rinse first, after which I spray the razor and blade with 90% alcohol which disinfects along with prevents oxidation on the razor blade.
@Art-is-craft
@Art-is-craft 8 месяцев назад
Running hot water on razor and regular rising is enough to disinfect it. Keeping it clean from visible grime is an important factor to ensure there is not a surface that allows bacteria to culture. Hot water is the key.

Depending on how humid it is, there's a rusting possibility. Unfortunately, I ended up with some rust on both my 59 Fatboy and 34c. I love the 34c but it's a bit of a pain to get the sides even. Any good recommendations for something similar with a butterfly twist loading?

@Art-is-craft

@@s.garabet1677 With the 34c when setting the blade in you can turn it upside down and tighten to play with the alignment. You can also just play it by eye. If it is not aligned just loosen and wiggle the head. The blade does not have to be perfectly aligned just good enough to work.

What about adjustable razors and ones that are TTO? Anything special to maintain them?
@Art-is-craft
@Art-is-craft 8 месяцев назад
Just keep the head and blade areas clean. Hot water is one of the best options to use. Oil the mechanisms every now and then to reduce wear and to add a protective layer against oxidation.

No. That is not needed. You risk in doing that would be adding material to the blade area that would act as a means for bacterial to for. Just use hot water to sterilise it. Then allow it to air dry.
