Hi, I don't have access to the electroforming solution and I have to make it myself. Can you give me some advice on how much and what materials do I need to prepare ten liters of solution?

Hello. I admire your work and I'm grateful for your tutorials. I have two questions and I please, need your experienced answers. 1: do you electroform with purchased electroforming liquid, and if so, do you still add copper brightener? 2. I believe that solutions are Tifoo (the logo is alike). Can you give me a link or a description for "brightener" please? I'm living in Europe too and Midas seems to be not available.

Hello and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I don't understand how much distilled water I have to add. Is it the difference between how much solution I had before and after filtering? Thank you

Hi Stefania, thank you for your comment. When you electroform, your solution evaporates. So when you are going to filter it, the level of solution in your beaker will be less than what you started with. I have a piece of tape on my tank, so I always refill up to the tape (that's how I know how much water to add). If you don't have a piece of tape on your tank, just refill up to where it was when you first started (approximately). And yes, there is a difference between how much solution you have before and after filtering. If you don't have enough solution and too much anode, it won't work. That's why you need to refill. Hope this helps!

How do you dispose of the solution properly?
@electroformingartist7818
@electroformingartist7818 3 года назад
Hi Deirdre, before you dispose of your solution, neutralize it with baking soda. Then, you can call your local waste company to ask them if they would take it or where you should bring it. Bring it in its original bottle, so that they know what its made of. You can also google 'how to dispose of chemicals in your country/town'. Hope this helps!

Thanks for these videos! Love your channel. I just recently found copperplating jewelry making as such a fun medium to channel my creativity. It definitely teaches patience and faith. And each piece I make I love more than the last. I have so many ideas it's exciting. Questions. How long can you use the solution for? And where can I find copper brighter? I'm only two weeks in and I'm still figuring out what voltage and amps and for how long to keep my pieces in the solution. IG: @freckledeyefern 😁
