From what I remember, And I could be wrong. But jellyfish don't really die. They just kinda regenerate. So potentially he just made more Jellyfish. And I'm sure the jellyfish is grateful.

You think it would help to make some sort of line to make retrieving the spear easier? Maybe a bit of thick and colored fishing line tied to the slingshot portion to make sure that it never really leaves your hand, or would that make it harder to use due to the line tangling up while bunched up in the water? Maybe use a fishing reel or something along those lines.

Well, nice DIY and demonstration. But, as all said above, the jellyfish was an overdo. Here in Israel it would still count as speargun, and it can still get you owned if you don't get the permit.

You should attach string to the rod and to the rubber band so you don't loose it and so it's easier to get.

This is actually a different design from the Hawaiian sling. Pretty sure the traditional way is better since the resistance from the bands is more powerful. The traditional ones are also easy as hell to make.

You might not want to fish any big fish. Otherwise your spear is going to swim away. Still a very good idea, just add a string. :)

Why would you kill the jellyfish (at the end) just for fun? Even though humans have to hunt animals for food, we can still have respect for life as such. Imagine how from nothing came something like a jellyfish. There was only rock and dust in the beginning of our planet and then the miracle of life starts to unfold. And you're just destroying things to test your cool new toy.

Coming from a spearo I have to say this just wasn't cool. I'm all for spearing for food but killing just for fun just isn't right, please respect sea life and only kill what you are going to eat.
