How To Make A 45 Pound PVC Slingbow for $5 Zommbie Defence , fishing , compact 

I have seen a lot of people put a lot of good ideas on youtube. But you have a way of teaching and portraying the information that is clear and concise and totally practical. I have finished making my own and I will say it's very well designed, and the video helped a lot. Mine's basically the same though I have personalized mine a bit. I wrapped the handle with paracord, added a wrist lanyard for stability (which really really helps), added a second part of PVC that is parallel to the handle (by square lashing) that mounts a laser/light for accuracy and night time shooting, and also added a grip to pull back on since I didn't want to drop $20 on a release. One of the problems were arrows, and since I didn't want to spend any money on this (which I actually didn't), I made arrows out of fiberglass driveway stakes. These shoot great though I had to adjust the knocks a lot to fit them to the paracord. (I'd love to show you how I made them, they're great arrows and didn't cost me a penny. Just message me back and we can talk about them). They shoot straight, hard, and are strong enough to penetrate all the way through a cardboard box filled with foam, magazines, and bubble wrap as well as the earth without damaging them. I plan to make another because I have more ideas that I didn't have room for. Thanks again for the video, I'd love to send a picture though I'm not sure how.

That's a really good idea using the knotted cord to attach the rubber tubing. So simple it's nearing genius level. The more simple a design is the less incidents of failure.

Don't know if anyone commented about this yet or not, but a figure 8 knot works better than the overhand knots (it won't slide up the cord) and is only slightly bigger and just as easy to tie. Nice vid! I'll have to make one of these for dispatching raccoons

I know this is an older post but I still appreciate just how easy it is to create an effective slingbow this way.

Looks like something Darryl from the Walking Dead would come up with using some scraps he found. Probably not as powerful as his compound crossbow, but certainly smaller, lighter and quicker to reload.

That's pretty impressive my friend. You shoot well with it. I've shot archery for 20 years here in California and you shoot about as good as I do at that range. Well done. Have you tried squirrel hunting or other small game? From the accent I think you're in the U.K. and hunting rules are very strict over there so if you do be careful. Have fun and stay safe. Better than the rubber band is thin nylon tied in a constrictor knot. It's used in spearfishing to tie the rubbers and they are under a lot more tension, being stretched more than a metre. The rubber band will breakdown from UV and oxygen.

He has shown you the basic fundamentals that are required.If you want to put cable ties,duct tape or tie a little pink bow in it,so be it.

I would consider wearing safety glasses while shooting a sling shot. When I was young, my band broke while drawing back, hit me, and cut my skin open, just below my eye. Had it hit my eye, I'm sure I would have lost it or at least had impaired my vision for life. Just a word of advice.

IF your going to make this, use schedule 40 or 80 PVC conduit, strong stuff, should work good. Use something else besides the rubber bands like the inner lining from a piece of paracord :)

seems good for fishing and small game hunting, don't think id want to test it at range versus something that could fight back. That being said better then sticks stones and harsh language. keep up the good work.

Brilliant idea, great presentation, a really good video. Just a side note ( The odd colored vane on an arrow is used to index the orientation of the arrow on the bow. The vane needs to avoid contacting the arrow rest in a way that will alter the arrow's flight path or cause damage to the equipment.).... Thanks again. 2022 and the Zombies are real!

Rubber bands can dry rot pretty quickly. You'd be better off using a small zip tie instead.

What a waste of time. I worked two hours to make mine and stalked my mother in law for another five and all i got was to get her into a hospital for the afternoon. Though a very peacefull afternoon still i wanted a more permanent solution. Oh well i guess the Molotov potato launcher might do the trick...
