I like the fact that you can clearly see the focal point outside at around 5:25 where the picture flips.

At about 6:30 you can see the light beams crossing in the manner you described earlier in the presentation. A clear demonstration of the science.

That's awesome. I like the fact that you can actually SEE the light flipping the image on the outside shots. The light focuses to a point, then out again.

Glad they sent the flashlight to you free. I was all 'this is cool, i'll get one and make my own'. Then I saw the 700 dollar price tag. I'll just use a welder and some carbons.

Would love to see something akin to this project but in the long-throw UV range for say Nightvision. Even a cheap IR camera would be able to record objects from a great distance.

At 6:37 you can actually see the light beam flipping over and the blank spot in the beam that is caused by the emblem. Very cool

A pricey flash light yet really packs a punch. I would buy it if I ever needed something like this. Now on the the next video idea. Having a really nice slot where you can add in your own images of whatever.

I love it! There's a lot of light leaking out of the flashlight end. If you had more reflective surfaces keeping all the light inside and only letting it go out through around the symbol, you might get even better performance.

Love the video. Just got a new Christmas idea for my father-in-law and his flashlight collection.

This is the basic principal of how a traditional projector works. A tiny LCD screen is essentially placed at the focal point of a lens in the front of the projector, then a lamp such as an LED, Laser, incandescent, or even in some cases, and HID lamp turn on at the back of the projector bouncing off the LCD, and then through the lens at the front, projecters are more complicated than this in how they get a full range of color and everything for the sake of staying on topic, that is the basic principal. The image of the LCD appears on whatever surface the projector is pointed at because of the same phenomenon that actually causes incandescent based flashlights to have a rather ringy beams, because the reflector is actually bringing the shape of the incandescent's filament into focus. Similarly, I actually have a handheld laser that has a bin code inscribed on the can of the diode, and that code is actually projected onto the wall by the laser beam when I bring it into the lens's focal point when adjusting the focal length on the beam for burning.

Cut some tin for the bat and make it bigger so that more light can pass without being blocked by foil. Looks awesome.

This sounds like such a fun project to make for an affordable price.

Making PVC disk/square image templates you can slot into a sliding/rotational caddy would be a great additional to this. it would be the best mix of a small toy torch features but having that powerful light to project it beyond your dreams. It would be interesting to see in various weather conditions (weather permitting) from the basic clouds to fog, mist and rain!
