How to make a Bio-gas Digester 

To do this right read my three posts. An LPG stove has to be modified to use bio gas: You need to only change the little jet nozzle on these stoves to convert between LPG, CNG and Biogas. LPG requires the jet to be very thin while bio gas requires a larger opening. I bored out the CNG jet with a needle until I got it to burn perfectly with bio gas.

It is amazing people have been making these great digesters out of crappy fitting barrels and nobody has said "Hey, why don't we make some open ended barrels that are actually designed specifically to go inside one another for a better fit?"

Grate!I think the supply-pipe should be placed under the sewage to avoid lossing gas as we add new material for bio-digester, and odour as well; and I think y also should use soft pipe to connect two parts of this bio-digester, because they will move as they work.

If I recall correctly, depending on the slurry material (whatever organic material is being reduced to slurry), the CO2 to methane production ratio can be as high as 3 to 1...-Which means such a digestion process would also be a very good source for CO2 for an algae biofuel/biomass process. So in that situation where both the CO2 and methane are used, a gas separator device would be necessary. Also useful would be a gas cleaning ("scrubber") system, and a product gas compression and storage system. Larger systems will require water condensation removing "bleed-off" valves or"traps" and flame-backflow prevention devices. All available as "off-the-shelf" for large applications, from industrial suppliers. Hardware and DIY builders supply stores sometimes inventory various smaller application devices.

I have a couple questions about the diagram shown in the beginning of the video. First, the feed line should go down into the slurry, correct? Otherwise, won't the methane simply leak out it? Also, your slurry overflow pipe is at a higher elevation than the highest point in your gas line. Wouldn't you want your slurry outflow to come out the side of barrel 1 maybe at say 4/5 of the way to the top?

Post 4: To produce FLAMMABLE gas..Know this>>The initial optimal ratio is 130 ltr water + 60 kg cow dung. Rainy season is wrong time to start NEW bio gas system. Bacteria need very warm (35 -40 deg) atmosphere. So it will take more time (might be 1 month) to generate flammable methane gas. The more sunlight the barrel receives the better. For the first 2 weeks, let the gas vent outside. (do not store initial gas in tubes)...Do not feed for the first 2 weeks. After the generation of INFLAMMABLE gas (It may take several days to weeks),feeding can be started with small quantity of kitchen waste and can gradually increase day by day...Poultry and marine waste (chicken and fish intestine): For quick result,(bacteria rich bio gas plant) it is better to use the cow dung as starter mix. Chicken and fish intestine are good feed for this plant, but has to take care of overfeeding (max of 2 kg).....Do not feed the system dry waste alone, but a mixture of dry & liquid waste in a ratio of 1:1

Shall we add some "Yeast" in to the digester for quick produce of bio gas...!?

Since the water barrel is open I would suggest some form of flexible cover or regular dosing of anti mosquito larvae pellet in water to minimize mosquito breeding.

Really nice project! Since your project is already a few years old, I would like to ask about the longevity of the biogas digester. Are your barrels standing in the sun? Did they get brittle? Thank you so much in advance for your answer!

how much 80s music should u play daily? and could I speed up the process by installing a stereo inside of the 2nd tube? my understanding is that 80s music playing inside the tube will act as a catalyst to the microbial process, please correct me if im not getting something

hmm, silicone gel is all you used to seal the holes? Had a tough time trying to seal the openings.....

Post 3: Single barrel bio gas plant: use a 230 Ltr drum/barrel. U can feed up to a max of 2 kg or 2.5 kg per day (when the system dot matured). This is a compact model, which can feed a max of 2 or 2.5 kg of waste / day. From this 2 kg waste, you get gas for 1.5 to 2.5 hours (with low pressure). So u can't depend only this bio gas plant for your purpose. In our home, by using this plant, we could extend our LPG cylinder's life to 2.5 months from 1.5 month.

Psst 2: You need a reservoir to collect the methane gas: Large tire Inner tube storage method is ideal because not an iota of gas produced is wasted (like in double barrel type) Use two old bus tire inner tubes, stack the tubes one over the other. Place a heavy weight on top of the stacked tubes to increase gas pressure to the stove.

At 0:42, You should never drill the holes where the seams are (these are the lines). Video Eppo RU-vid Channel said that they are heat welded and by drilling it to the seams, it will destroy the structural integrity of the barrel.

I have my set up already... But still it doesnt produce methane yet.... How much time do i need to wait to have a good gas?.... Plss reply....

How does the excess slurry pipe works....before the water goes up to that excess slurry pipe...the water will go to the gas pipe first...because the excess pipe is much more higher than the gas pipe...see 2:58 diagram...

silicone glue is very weak and leaked easily. you should use power glue instead. 1:38 I guess you use silicone glue for glass.

methane biodigester booster - use Kudzu Plants which are known for creating excessive amounts of methane when cows eat this plant; hence, Kudzu Plants would boost the biodigester's gas production and might qualify for grants since Kudzu is a problem weed in 25 states. So make gas and liquid fuels our of it

i think your drawing is wrong. The feed tube should be immersed in the water or else all the gas will escape thru it.

Along with your gas collecter we need extra in storage. Many people says that, when we have excess of gas we don't know what to do. Consumer must be given more facilities You suggest people to put clay coating on pot and let it dry before use. It's become easier to clean the pot. Namh shivay.
