That is THE BEST LOOKING bird feeder I have seen on youtube! It so neat and beautifully made. Your wild is so clean and your idea was so well thought out. I like your design! The only thing I would want added would be a pole to the bottom. I definitely would not want it hanging from something. If you think that problem through as to how to have a pole assembly with a squirel deterrent I would like to see the video.

Eric, Your feeder looks nice. I regularly clean my feeders every two weeks to prevent infections that cause diseases. Your feeder is very large unless it’s emptied really fast could harm the birds. Thank you ☺️

That is a simple yet really functional and attractive feeder.Will make a couple of them. One question,When I build mine I always have a mesh bottom so the snow and rain drains away from the feed.I don't know where you live so it may not be a problem for you. Just found your channel and have subscribed as it looks interesting

As another that builds bird feeders, nesting boxes, roosting boxes, bat boxes, suet feeders, etc. (all to National Audobon Society Specifications), may I suggest adjusting your roof angle. Make the angle higher in the rear than the front with an over hang that includes the feeding station(s). It sheildes the birds while feeding during rain and/or snow fall. It also provides more protection from the seed getting wet and molding. Nobody, not even the birds, wants to be provided 'damp, moldy food'. It can harm them unless there is a true regiment of 'cleaning the feeder'. Just this woodworker's input. I have been making bird houses, feeders, roosting boxes for a long time under Audobon Specifications. You are on the right track. Just think more as the birds you're feeding and, their conditions.

I see you use Ryobi, would you reccommend that for hobby use, and even for bigger projects? I’ve recently started my apprenticeship to become a carpenter. We use Dewalt at work and my partner has a lot of Milwaukee tools. But it seems Ryobi is cheaper so I was thinking of going for that for myself.

that's a good idea. I will build a few similar to that for all my cages so when I'm on a week vacation somewhere, my bird will have food for the week. now the only things in worry about going away that long is their water supply. how to keep it clean for them. birds tends to dirty up their water quick.

Nice job! Cedar might be a good choice for wood.They have privacy fence boards at the box stores reasonably priced.Not 3/4 thick ,a little thinner though.Oh and i have a project idea for you.Vintage wood egg crates are really cool,image search for them,they are just slats of wood stacked up to make a crate.But the nifty part is the top.There is a real simple way the top stay secure and it really works good.I got a original and i couldnt figure out how to get the top off for the life of me! lol i finally figured it out.There might be a vid on here so you could see how the top works.Back yard chicken are a big thing now and i bet you could sell some easy.You might find a source for the cardboard dividers that go inside. Edit...I dont see a vid on here how the top works,if you think your serious about making one i can make a video for you showing how the top works and is constructed,just let me know
@RocketCityGardener
@RocketCityGardener 8 лет назад
Might need some small drainage holes in the feed box. Also you have a small area behind the ramp you could make into a bird house if you drilled out a large hole.
@AlexHorvatBonsai
@AlexHorvatBonsai 7 лет назад
I like that design. While seing that you added slope inside to make seed sliding to the front, I figured out that you actualy gave that cavity behind the seeds chamber. What about an idea that you drill a hole on the back wall and use that cavity as a bird house, or even two of them, if you separate them with vertical triangular wall...
@pershop4950
@pershop4950 3 года назад
If it were a nest in that cavity, the birds poop and pee and moisture would probably affect the wood and eventually the seeds on the other side of their nest/wall.

eric, that stinks about the basket. good stuff on getting something done in its place for ur viewers -hey,,u should put a few coats of spar urethane on the outter lid and sides. i do that to all my houses and feeders and doesnt effect anything. .just a suggestion for longer feeder life.

It is no good to using!.First:roof must be broder against a rain, roof must be locking(wind can open it).Grain can not be mixt, beacuse birds are liking to choose, and throw out worse grain.(will be at once very dirty around).From this reason would be better to make bottom container for grain -double. It give much cleaner around.It would be nicer if proportion side to side is 0.62 (gold rate,proportion).Sorry for mistakes.

Great job !! Thanks so much! Sorry to interject, but this is a magnificent example of 'white privilege' that is earned by your culture, your family and a desire to do really cool projects. I admire you at your young age and hope you get to many heights of competence and contributions to our society (USA). Jim

Ah yes, only white people can make wood project videos. Got it. I'd like to say that in Asia, there are videos of Asian people doing wood projects. Probably some white guy living there is all mad and upset and complaining that their Asian privilege allows those Asian people to make their wood projects.

@@pershop4950 You inferred incorrectly. I celebrated a young man for his efforts. Please note he is not special needs as many cultures seem to be at this point. Well done young man, keep contributing to the welfare of avians.
