After the famous donut tutorial i decided to try making a car but i didn't actually look into proper methods to model a car so i started off with the default cube and went on doing it and seeing the progress you made in 48 mins is shocking since even after 48 hours my car looks like trash. Finally decided to see what the pro's do and man this is a huge help. Thanks for this mate!!
Have to agree with this; over a year ago I ended up diving in without 'any' knowledge, and trying to model cars with complex curves. Made several total train wrecks and had to pull back and make simpler things. Once my skill is up I'll try again.
It's been 2 years since I watched this video. I just want to say, thank you Cryptonix. You've gotten me into modelling and I actually got a chance to work with Greenville, not at the best timing though. But you really helped me. Thank you again.
hey dude i get your probs bissy but if u want a side gig im making a game called peach county, idk if your intersted, its not really that cool but i need devs and idk, even if you just like do it once a week idc
why are you the only person who was able to explain this in a way that somoene who's never done this before can comprehend. you name every step. amaznig
One of the best explanations on how to sculpture a car I have seen. It was the same method I used to sculpture the object I had. But I am having problems with 'solidify'. It doesn't always give a perfect result due to the angles of the surfaces I am dealing with. The other being file formats. Jumping between Stl, dwf and blend files.
Hey dude, great video. I am a car designer myself, and work for Toyota. We use Catia and Alias, but I wanted to learn Blender for myself and just push my skills further. My only reccomendations for you, because I am just learning Blender and have been modeling cars in it a slightly different way (more than 1 way to skin a cat) is for you to tell your audience which shortcuts and tools you are using. Im not sure if you use Extrude or Duplicate to add vertices. Your pace is good, but you leave out a few key details. Like also, how did you quickly fill in the faces between vertices like on the fender and hood. looked like you just pushed one button and it created individual faces along your curve/loop. I appreciate your video and it was very helpful. Keep it up!
keep up the tutorials man. The thing I like about these long form videos is that I get to see all kinds of short cuts. Ranging from the keyboard, to the methodology of the construction of a model.
When you begin leaning a new program it is easy to accidentally move things around. Some of my reference images ware moved or deleted. To prevent this you can lock them. Select image Press N Click on all 9 Lock icons to make them lock.
for people that dont have a numpad go to edit and user preferences then go to input click on emulate numpad that's how you can switch between ortho and perspective views and such
I haven't tried building with one dot at a time yet till I was this video. I kind of like it! Are you using the latest blender now or like some hooked on older versions from the past? I started with Blender 3.41 and even though someone recommended Blender 2.7 I couldn't like it. There was no box select and many other things I didn't like. When doing UV's though it would leave an outline of what had been placed on the map and exported so it was very easy to add other objects later and export them without overlapping things. Far as I know Blender 3.41 does not do that sadly.
Would definitely love to see more, i found that you explained it a lot more than some other people i've seen on youtube. Im trying to learn to make a 3d model as i enjoy modifying cars, and im trying to explain to my dad exactly how i want my project car to look.. so if i can learn to 3d model it, i can then try and learn to modify it in 3d too
22:09 Man, I got motivated. My brain really want to give up but my hands were like "No, don't you dare" because no one is still making the model that I really want. Just to inform, it's a bus and I'm a beginner in Blender. Started 5 days ago and I pretty much have done 2 successful figures, a island (no animations) and a low poly car (also just a figure)
i need help! my blueprint doesnt have the top view, i tried to look for others but theres nothing. Is there a problem on using a blueprint without top?
a question, in 7:30 you bring out a plane but when i tried to bring mine ( my camera was from the front orthographic) there are no vertices? i am on 2.8 running on mac and this is my first time trying this out is there any solution? Ah it was also placed flat on the ground not right infront of the vector image
man i tried so many other tutorials, but all they did was speed up, didnt explain and it was very not understandable. i love how you explained it and went slow and showed how to do little details etc..
I know I am a little late, but your issue it simple, you are using background images (Only visible from the view you added it from) when you should be using reference images. Hope this helps.
i tried doing this and the background images didn't all show up and only showed up on the specific side. Im not sure if its my blender or theres a setting i have set but help would be nice
Try going into front view by pressing Numpad 1, the adding the Background. The background appears at the angle You were looking at. U can change the area in which it showes up by turning on display perspectivein Background settings. Hope this helped :)
When you went into the view of seeing all the blueprints at once, how did you do that? Also it would help if you could include all the keybinds for everything c:
i really tried, been learning blender for 2 weeks, but at vertices i just messed up evrytime, couldnt keep goin. need more understanding and experience. but i think this is a really good tutorial, thank you.
I’m interested in trying this and making a model of my car. But I can’t find the top down view. I found the side view no problem, but the top down is no where to be found. Any recommendations on what to do? Edit: Also can’t find the front/back views. Seemingly the only view I can find is the side view..
So I’m new to making all this blender car stuff and your controls are all on keyboard and mine are all on mouse, is there a way to change this as it starts to stress me out after a while trying to use a mouse.
ok wow, i’m seeing much feedback to this video. this is literally my first time using blender and i’m finding it pretty easy from this tutorial. i’ve had to rewind a few times, but that’s okay, i expected it. only thing i can’t figure out is that when i place the mesh, it is flat so i can’t do anything with it. it’s pretty late now so i think i’m gonna just go to bed and continue tomorrow and i hope i can figure it out then.
Is this the best way to make a car ? Or do actual 3D Artists working for Companies create it on their own ? Because i feel like this is a very crooked way to make cars.
@@Car00071 Oh alright. But one thing i don´t understand is how to make this look good. If i have 2 square headlights, i can mirror them of course but i´ll have to manually make atleast one of them. So i try to place a dot at each corner of the headlight. But this ends up really crooked. Especially due to the low resolution and the curved edges of the headlights it´s really not easy. Im not sure how else to do cars without making a block with 4 wheels so im kind of stuck.
Hey I'm really enjoying your video, but I'm stuck sadly. I can't figure out how to move the images away from the center without moving them from their proper spots, at 6:53 minutes is the spot. would you please be able to help me I am still learning how to use blender.
I can only see the background when in orthographic views when I try to move the three sides and see a perspective view the backgrounds disappear. Any suggestions?
Hello, Great Video!! Does anyone know the fix where at 7:25 when i add a plane mesh it goes on a different axis. Also i cant click vertices when i add the plane mesh. Help!!
Press R, then type 90 or -90, then enter. Rotate again, then press another axis (X, Y, Z), do 90, then enter To click verticles, make sure you are in edit mode, and press 1
@@jellyii8886 Thanks! it worked. I couldn't see the plane on the 1 side so i had to go to the 3 side and delete and then go back to 1 and continue the video. Really appreciate it!
Great video but on 5:48 I don't know where to click bc it says middle and I don't know where the middle is bc I only started using blender 2 days ago so can you tell me what is middle please?
When you started moving the pictures after lining them up it didn't do right so I raged and gave up cause there was no going back😂 thanks tho this taught me quite alot so thanks
srry im late to the party but I was stuck playing hypixel skywars so thats my excuse. Anyway, Is there any way to get rid of the blur on the blueprint? It throws me off a little EDIT: Also should I line up some verticies with other lines of the car?
i move vertices along the blueprint to match the shape off the car, and once i go to a different view they are all messed up, im not moving them along any other axis then up or down and they still do this, do you know what im doing wrong? thanks. great tutorial btw.
Hi Don't know if I'm just dumb but whenever I'min top/front orthographic etc it puts me straight back to user perspective. Is there a way i can just keep it on the top/front orthographic thank you
Might have been a courtesy to suggest that in the 'description'. It would have saved a few of us some time. "Tutorial" can be misleading without specific context. Ijs
Man you are helping me out alot. I'm trying to make a Polish RP game with Police not using free models as that is ew. (In Roblox Ofcourse). I'm making this game by myself so you are saving me a ton a money cause i would be spending on a designer to make the models lol
I watched this and I put less detail into it because my car is a low poky car, but this is a good tutorial. I have been using blender for maybe a month and I am not good enough to put that much time into it, so I made a low poly 2017 AMG GT! it looks good as of now and I will use it in my game! :)
29:09, How did you get it to warp together at the hood, the way they just merge into eachother and create that straight line? I still can't figure it out because mine just fold over eachother in a curve, and I have to manually straighten it out which then screws me over for the edge loop
It worked thx other tutorials aren't helpful they're just too hard but after understanding i will soon made my 2004 honda stream 3d model and used it for gta 5/gta sa which there's not even a single mod for honda stream on any gta game
