I’ve used Velcro type with adhesive layer, it worked great. You can try to make carpet stiffer with a butyl paint (underbody sealant), but test it first
Electronic ignition system Jeff?? Making mirror images sucks..I always do that with sound deadening by mistake.....The rally boost tank was sneaky and one I haven't heard of before.
We've all done the mirror image trick. Upholstery is looking great man. To fix the carpet to the floor what about black anodised press studs with the underside riveted to the floor.
Gotta admire your attention to detail. You really put some love and care on your cars mate. I would recommend putting those tabs or pins or something to hold the carpets in place.. Especially the drivers carpet.. You can easily hide the attachments under the seat.. I'm having trouble with my daily mercedes that the drivers floor mat keeps moving forward and messing with the clutch pedal..
Buy some stiff underlay and glue to the back of the carpet. It will hold the carpet in place, stop it wrinkling up from use, and keep the corners down. Love your work, Jeff!
How about magnets? Strong enough to hold down the carpet but easily enough to take out? Maybe you dont have to punch clips into the carpet for the trunk? Hope that makes sense.
Hi Mr and Mrs Jeff, only just come across your channel and I have to say it's fantastic. The way you pass on your information and explanations are some of the best I have found on RU-vid. Being a fellow Aussie and a lifelong 'Z' fan, the rebuild is fascinating viewing. Your detailed information coupled by great little segments by Mrs Jeff at the end really deserve great praise hence my comment. Keep up the great work, can't wait for the road test!!
You should look into getting a gas strut support clamp to hold the back hatch open without the need for a stick. The car is looking great. Are you going to get a replacement fuse panel for it, like the Porsche?
I love you and your skill Mr jeff...in other words I appreciate you because you are 100% complete....i will always follow you because ur skill give me joys,#hwiwishibecomeurapprentice
Hey man, great job! As usual I loved the video ! Great progress ! I'm really happy that the engine is running and the car looks almost finished. BTW, is there any progress on the Porsche engine ? As always, regards from Sofia, Bulgaria :)
G'day Jeff reckon you will both need a new set of sunglasses for the maiden voyage down the road you choose. Broom broom noises coming to the screen soon folks😉😊👍👍
Great job Jeff. One of the things I really appreciate is your rate upholstery expertise. You make what is clearly not an easy skill to master understandable. BTW. Congratulations on getting your build running.
I think Velcro might do the trick - used on Aircraft to keep carpet and seat covers in place, it works very well speaking from about 10 years of experience changing the dam things after they were soiled on rough flights.
Jeff, what about putting a thin hard board under the back carpet to keep it flat? Shaped like the carpet. Keep up the good work. PS, any update on the Porche engine?
I would cut some thin hardboard to shape for the trunk (maybe in 3 pieces) and glue the carpet to that. It will span the spare tire, so you can put stuff on it without sinking, and keep the carpet nice and flat. Only cut the board in pieces, and use the carpet as a hinge to fold it over for installation and removal
