Absolutely one of the BEST and most informative Rosary tutorials and Instructor! Very knowledgeable, helpful and had great suggestions. I'm going to check out the other Potomac video's now as she mentioned, for using different tools and methods, etc. Thanks!!!
sorry to be offtopic but does any of you know a method to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Isaac Marcellus thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
This video was perfect!!!! I’m my cousin’s godmother for her first communion and I wanted to make her a customized rosary that is unique and with beads she hand picked, this is the best video I’ve seen! Thank you!! 😇♥️
Thank you for this video and all your other videos. Your explanations and demonstrations are wonderful and you speak very clearly you do a great job . I made one of these tonite and it came out so good ! Please keep the videos coming . And to the two rude people , why be so rude ? There is nothing wrong with her fingers or nails and there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with her loops ! I don't know what you're looking at , her loops couldn't be done any better !
This looks lovely, but if the beader is making a Rosary that will be used for prayer, you need a few extras. Please add a figure 8 link before and after each decade. This is so that the person praying with them can feel where the decade ends and know that it's time to change the prayers. The same with the three beads on the tail where the Crucifix goes, next to the Crucifix and on all three sides of the centre medal. You can make them with the round nose pliers and you will need to make 14 of them per Rosary. You also need 4 jump rings - 3 on the centre medal and one on the Crucifix. If you don't have the jump rings, the Crucifix and medal will eventually open your wire loops.
I also use 3 chain links chain to separate the hail Mary's from the Our Father, as well as the center and the crucifix. It makes the rosaries a little more flexible and it keeps them from breaking.
Thank you for this comment. This completed the process for me. Along with this video I've made beautiful rosaries for Christmas for my loved ones. They are so well complimented and we'll received.
Great! That is so wonderful to hear! Please feel free to share what you create on our Facebook group for beading and jewelry-making! Here is another lovely and fun project video you may enjoy! I normally get the pure silver rods that already have one cats eye loop in the end. This way there’s less work and I only use true Swarovski crystals. So the pure silver really makes the crystals shine well and polishes really well when I clean the crystal rosary in the end with jewelry cleaner, and it keeps the person wearing it as a dedicated catholic from their neck and hands turning black. My rosaries are a bit expensive to make, but they last very well and are so beautiful that they sell fast. The only discoloring is the silver turns brownish if not cleaned, but most customers say they just leave the rosary in a jewelry cleaning dish at night and it comes out beautiful in the morning.
All of my store bought Rosaries (antique and new) have the chain in them. I liked this video though. A lot of good information on how to make a Rosary. Thank you.
I was wondering if you took classes to learn all this ? I find this very complicated I tried repairing several broken rosaries that I own and instead of fixing them, I ended up making it worse. I tried watching some tutorials here on youtube but I still managed to mess up. I'm determined to learn however I'm just not having any luck.
You are welcome! We're so glad you like the tutorial! You can also share what you create on our Facebook group for beading and jewelry-making! hi!! i love this video!!! You mentioned that they can be done with using a bead instead of a station, do you have a video explaining how to do it? Sorry but i'm very new at working with beads and wire! i love rosaries and would love to make some for my church group! THANK YOU!
I think that the links around the bead should be one horisontal and the second vertical. That's how the other rosary makers do it and I do it, too. The exception to this is when you make the links to Our Father beads. The both links are to same direction. Thanks any way for this video. Good work.
Soldering will close the ring completely and will prevent your other links from slipping through an opening in the link/ring. However if you use a heavier gauge metal like a 20 or less, you really shouldn't have that problem as long as the links are closed correctly. We currently do not have a video on soldering.
Is the wire you are working with in this video strong enough for gemstone beads such as garnet, jade, amethyst, etc.? I would like to make a rosary with these types of heavier beads.
I am going to make a rosary for my boyfriend so this was very straight forward for me since I'm a beginner. I wonder though, would it be in my best interest to wrap the wire instead of using chain link? I watched your video on wire wrapping so i was considering doing that. What will be stronger?
It really depends upon the gauge of wire you are using. If you are using anything thinner than 20 gauge (22 for example), you would definitely want to wrap. It takes longer, but at least that will not accidentally stretch or pull the loop.
This video was done years ago, but you can really use any wire that you want. It was probably Artistic Wire: www.potomacbeads.com/Artistic-Wire-s/2508.htm
At the beginning and at the end could hear you perfect, but not at all during the instruction part of making the video. But, am going to use your way to make the loops especially the second one. As have tried other ways and the second loop comes out too small.
Is it better to make your own links with wire rather than using eye pins. I made one using eye pins and they kept snapping, despite that I was opening the links correctly and being very careful.
So I'm making these really pretty links using copper colored wire and I realized my stations and crosses are silver colored. They won't match. I'm thinking of getting some stone crosses but for the station, can I use a large closed copper ring? Would that be acceptable? I mean what are other options to use for a station or center piece?
Simon Smith I don't know if you ever got your answer but the 21 Gauge eyepins I use to make my rosaries are 3mm so I'd get the 3mm to use for to have a consistent loop BTW I use the 3mm auto looper for mine hope that helps!
William Neigum It probably just depends upon a person's experience and speed. Allie can probably do it in about 15-20 minutes. A new beader should take 1-1.5 hours probably, and get faster on each subsequent piece.
Well if you want to make it like this one, you do not need any chain, since the loops you will be making with your wire are what you would be connecting.
I want to wire each bead as instructed in video. However, two lengths of chain are attached to each side of the beads. I need to purchase the correct gauge chain to accomplish this. If you are uncertain as to what a ladder rosary is; please go to eBay and look up ladder rosary for some examples.
Can you guys make tri link necklaces and bracelets without the religious stuff. I like to see you make things because if it was from a rosary pattern my mom won’t let me. So I need proof that it just won’t be a rosary tutorial. If this could be used to make different things then you should make videos on how to make necklaces and bracelets in a lariat style besides a rosary. I would like to see a video of making y shaped beaded necklaces and bracelets without traces of a rosary
Hi, I'm using 3 types of pliers. Bent nose pliers, Round nose pliers, and flush cutters. You can check these pliers here: www.potomacbeads.com/Pliers-for-beading-jewelry-making-s/2502.htm
