I have 7 kids and I absolutely loved it... I do something similar but not so intricate but then the kids get confused so this way with more details makes a lot more sense... thank you hun

you made it! Thank you. I also want to know what you use the colored tape for? You have so many neat organizing gadgets in the background. So helpful. I am verry interested watching how you organize your family and home.

+Just Sew Trish The kids use the tape for crafts, but the reason I use it is for organizing our library books. (That's the reason I bought it.) By library I mean our personal library. We have about 3,500 books and I'm slowly labeling them with the colored tape to narrow the categories for finding things. Red is for fiction, purple is for reference and writing help. Blue is for science/technology, light blue is for science/nature, green is for history, geography, etc., yellow is for math, logic and music, orange is for theology and religion, black is for boy/man topics, pink for girls/women, and finally, white for books specifically related to our ACE curriculum. Once I put a piece of tape on the spine, I add a clear label made with my Brother P-touch label maker that further narrows the category such as a spool of thread for sewing books or a creeper face for Minecraft books. Then I cover the whole thing with a clear library label to make sure it sticks. Eventually I'd like to add a colored dot to indicate the reading level, but at the rate I work, that may never happen!

+Andrea Mills I love the way you are labeling things and getting things in order. I feel like I have been pregnant for the last 10 years and really I have with my 6. Between a move and forever exhaustion, things have gotten so out of hand. I was a schedule and list queen and some how throught the years, I have lost my way and am a bit so far gone, I didnt know where to start. I have been trying to create reusable charts and never thought to just make a master and print it off each week. so simple but at the same time so easy to over think things. So I have a drafted chart. I love the fact that you keep tweaking your process. Just keep it coming! You might have a process that doesnt work for you, but someone else maybe searching for that thought. I plan on sharing your videos.

I know what you mean. I keep feeling like I have to hurry up and get projects done because if I get pregnant I know I won't have any energy! We do the best we can and there's nothing wrong with "just surviving." My house used to be a lot cleaner; now we clean everyday, but it seems like things are always a mess. I try to remember it's just the stage of life I'm in. Lots of kids means lots of mess. (And I'm not looking forward to the day that the house never gets messy.) And lots of kids also means disorganization. But it does feel good to make a step forward instead of just putting out fires. I'm glad I can be an encouragement to you!

I am just still so amazed Andrea how organized you were when you were! My children are grown now but this would have been so helpful when they were growing up! You were an amazing mother and wife💕💕💕 This comment was for your demonstration on how you set up the chore chart😊

You could color code the initial boxes with the kids colors...very visual way to see at a glance. :) Love your videos!

Wow this is a great video! I’m looking to buy a chore chart but it would be so cool to be able to make one and just frame one. I’m not finding what I need.

Hi! love your tutorial, but word has changed so much in the last 6 yrs. can you update your video? What trying to find is the table properties so i can get boxes the same size without doing it manually.

I looked through most of your videos.... and tried googling a form for a child health tracker. To keep track of their growth and “medical” record. What do you use? (This is off subject with this video, I assume you’d make it with Word)

Could you do a video on yours and Tom's testimony for what led you guys to view birth control the way you do? If you already have a video, could you link it in the comments? I'm always looking for encouragement from parents that share my views in this area.

How does each child know what chore to do?
@TheMillsFamilyVlog

They each know what "zone" is their's to tidy up. Once they are done with that, they just do whatever is the next thing on the list that hasn't been done yet. The exception is my 6-year-old who isn't allowed to do a few chores yet because she isn't quite capable. If one of those is up next, she skips to the next thing she is able to do.

Do you give rewards for the chores that have been done? we have been doing 1 chore a day they have to do 3 to get 50p and then they are 50p each after that, so £2.50 for a chore (or 2 smaller ones) everyday. My children do not like this system and I don't feel they are doing much and it doesn't help with the mess they keep making or keeping anywhere tidy. Any help advice? my dad says I am being too soft and should make sure every day is ticked or no rewards.

I bought cards that businesses use for employees to clock in. When it's chore time, everyone writes down their beginning time. Then we work our way through the list of chores. The chores are listed in the order I want them done (like washing the counters before sweeping the floors, etc.) and no one is allowed to skip a chore unless it's something they legitimately can't do. (Eden isn't tall enough to run the dryer, so if she's ready for a chore and laundry is up next on the list, she skips it and goes to the next one.) When we're done, everyone clocks out. On pay day, I add up the number of minutes each child worked and then pay them by the minute. I have one son who is very inefficient and spends most of his time being distracted so he earns 1 penny per minute. Another son does an excellent job getting through the chores quickly and doing a thorough job so he earns 5 cents per minute. Everyone else is somewhere in between. We have an evaluation process we do from time to time to see if I need to adjust anyone's pay to more accurately reflect their work. My hard workers earn about $15/week, my not-so-hard workers earn about $3 dollars/week. I try to help them understand how their work ethic affects their income.
