How To Make A Christmas Garland | DIY Cedar Garland | Slow Living //
In this video I show you a beautiful DIY Christmas cedar garland that you can make at home for the holidays! It’s never been easier to do it yourself with this simple how to video. I love handmade evergreen Christmas garlands for decorations. They can be dressed up with ornaments, ribbon and more! Or just let the simple, natural beauty of the branches shine through. Don’t forget to check out my RU-vid channel for more videos on cozy living and foodie videos.
Slow living isn’t a trend for me its a lifestyle I have embraced for years, I really learned it from my mom and grandma. We always just took our time to enjoy the beauty of everyday. I’m a romantic at heart, with a very practical lifestyle approach “ keep it simple”. I grew up on a farm and I think that furthered my love of simplicity and back to the basics mindset.

Now that Thanksgiving weekend is over it's time to get ready for Christmas, I love decorating my house with nature and old heirloom favorites. How do you like to decorate and get your house cozy for Christmas? These DIY Christmas garlands are easy, cheap (free) and beautiful :)

I love that you foraged for your materials. I have so many memories of picking Princess Pine in the woods with my mom and sister when I was younger. We would make wreaths and sell them for our "Christmas money" I couldn't agree with you more about involving your children in your homesteading activities. My "littles" now 28 and 25, daughters, now married and each have their own homestead. They are so much more successful with their God given gifts and talents than I and it makes this mama so happy and complete! I'm just happy I could help nurture them "here" so that they can continue "there" and "their" heart's desire. Blessings from Ringle, WI.

My daughter and I had so much fun going out and cutting the branches and cutting greenery for our garlands! We made two, one for above our kitchen window and the other to put on top of the armour cabinet. They turned out so lovely and festive, your instructions were great. Thanks for the great video!

I'm so glad I watched this video because I was about to make this process way more complicated than it really needed to be! And thank you for using real tree sprigs and plants--it's unbelievable how many videos using artificial plant pieces I had to go through to find one using natural.. Blessings to you

I am definitely going to attempt to make one. The big fake ones are so expensive and I’d rather have real any day! I love that you’ve taken the time and energy to pour into your children and now they are blessing you right back with the things you’ve taught them. You reap what you sow! Great job!

They are so expensive and real is best in my book :) You know it wasn't easy at first, but I came to point in my life when the children were little that I realized I had to involve them messy or not! And what a blessing it has been.

This is gorgeous. I am definitely doing this soon. I prefer old wire for my projects, it's easier to bend too usually.💜💜

I was pricing garlands at Lowes and they wanted $18 for a 20 footer. I thought, "No way!"; our woods are full of Cedar, I'll make my own. Thank you for the very easy to follow directions, you are both lovely instructors. If one has a lot of Privet, which is quite invasive where we live, it produces the most beautiful blue berries that hang so perfectly from a garland. I think I will add those to mine. After I make one, I'll link back to your site, so ppl can follow your directions.

I have a question: Great video and im excited to try it. How long do they last? im worried cuz my tree dies befor xmas every year we get up to a dead tree, I would hate for my garland to die as well, by making it to early.
@ForgottenWayFarms
@ForgottenWayFarms Год назад
You know it depends on the heat of your house and what kinds of trees you use. Mine last a long time because they are in the cooler part of the house. You might want to be safe and just make a little closer to Christmas :)

What are those ted berries you used here ? What are they called ? Are those red berries edible too ? Or only for decorations? And how those plants branches n Christmas trees branches n leaves lasts longer for many days

If I’m putting this around my from door... does the wire bend enough to have it hang down the sides or would it be better tying it on a rope?
@ForgottenWayFarms
@ForgottenWayFarms 3 года назад
Wire bends fine, just use a softer wire then we used. It was left over wire from my hubby’s job. But really you should use a smaller gauge wire that’s easier to bend. 😊
@humfrero

Can I ask - do you spray your garlands to keep them fresh? How long do they tend to last indoors? Many thanks 😊
@ForgottenWayFarms
@ForgottenWayFarms 2 года назад
No I don't. Cedar seems to last awhile in my house. My kitchen does run cooler though. 3-4 weeks, but probably less if you have a extra warm house.

Much easier than I thought it would be! Do you have to do anything special to help keep it fresh?
@ForgottenWayFarms
@ForgottenWayFarms 5 лет назад
They are very easy, they last 2-4 weeks (sometimes longer) depending on the heat of your home :) Outdoors they last what seems like forever! I don't really know of any way to keep them fresh any longer.

Ya i prefer natural materials if i can because they smell nice are free and you can throw them in the compost or burn them like sage when the seasons over . only thing i dont like is the cleanup but its a small price to pay .

I agree, natural is best :)
