Welcome to part 1 of 9 in this series about how to make a concrete planter statue. Through this long form tutorial you will see every step involved in the process of building this statue from basic materials that you might have around your home.
In this first episode, see the basic form being created from styrofoam, a 5 gallon bucket, steel mesh, nails and tie wire. The 5 gallon bucket acts as the plant pot. The outer surface is vertical and slippery making it hard for concrete to stick to it. It is wrapped in steel to give the concrete a good climbing surface. It is also "capped" so the inside of the bucket remains concrete free.
This is a fun and creative DIY project that can easily be done at home with some simple materials.
