I am thinking the "snap t face" function is handy in a lot of cases where the material can be made very precisely formed, like steel, which can be worked to a precision of few thousands of a milimeter. But I am also thinking, that with materials that aren't perfect, maybe it doesn't ruin everything that it's a little bit off, becaue that's how it would be in reality.
I am a furniture designer currently migrating from CAD into Blender and this is exactly what i needed! I am forever grateful for this and the chair, please go on with these product series and the archviz tutorials. Thanks again!
First the doughnut, then the chair, and now a couch. Thank you for making these tutorials and explaining them so effectively. Normally I would get bored to death and lose attention, but you're so engaging by the way you're describing each step and restating the shortcut keys as you go. Your stories are also great to listen to- It gives me a chance to take a breather and stay motivated!
Andrew's tutorials are so refreshingly good compared to all the other stuff that try to model things you don't need or try to model a most complicated scene in 60 seconds or tell us for the hundredth time to become a patreon and click the bell icon and so on. This here is how tutorials should be. Thanks a lot!
I am not a beginner, i have been working in the industry for 20 yrs now. One thing i like to do is to relax and follow tutorials like you know nothing. It is almost like trying to be a noob. The good thing about that it will bring you down to the earth and you will learn a lot of a things. So for this i restarted to work on this with the new blender 4, and guess what the new snap features came in handy a lot. Anyways Guru, thanks for these tutorials you put out into the world which is helping a lot of people including me improve their knowledge and workflow. For newbies how to use the snap feature is for eg if you need to move and you press g and then press the alphabet relative to the axis you want to move, if it is x axis press x on your keyboard. Now press B and you will be able to select either a corner or vertex point or and edge and then move that to snap it to another object vertex or edge.
Really appreciate you taking the slow and informative approach to your tutorials. The more detail about the process the better as far as I am concerned. It may seem slow as far as you are concerned when it comes to making he tutorials but from the learning end it pays off in the long run. Thanks.
I don't think I ever commented but damn you made me find a new hobby in life, thank you Andrew, even just watching your tutorials is fun. Also someone mentioned a weapon tutorial next time so that would be cool
Your voice and your accent and your way of teaching is clear and easy to understand even for elementary class which i love it so much because i can't learn fast, so i like to listen carefully and try it again and again until i can do it. It feels so good that first time in my life i actually designed a 3D. i dunno how to explain my feeling but you are the hero of Blender!
6:00 for select only the line press number 3 and press E then u can expand the box, u can also press number 1 and 2 to select the line. thank me later. (sorry bad english)
I actually really got addicted to watching you time lapse model the couch in what was it, 2.5 or 2.6? This is great to share that again! I think that original video was when you promoted the architecture academy but now that course is closed. So it’s great to see this!
The DropBox Link is down ... FYI But acctually - There is a PDF on the Website - just took a Screenshot an adjusted a bit ... never mind ... Thanks for the tutorial!
Just want to say your videos are amazing! I've learnt much more from them like the double tapping x, y or z for local instead of world has helped a lot! Thanks brother!
heya! I learned a lot from you, and this time, I am doing following the tutorial for 2nd time after 6 months since I didn't half of it the first time... anyways... few things, since you like recommendations... Alt+R and Alt+G will set the image to the origin... Aaand... Make a cube, bring it above the axis, select Vertice, snap 3D cursor to it change Transform Pivot to 3d, align the image and ZAP! scale the image in 1 singe go... thanks again!
For yall who want a different couch... you only need one of the PNG files and convert it to JPG.. then you have a nice reference pic for a different couch
Andrew, you absolutely rock with your tutorials. When i was watching chair series, I was like: it would be awesome if he would made same about couch... And here you are!! Thank You so much! Just one note: The legs a cylindrical at the vertical part, no?
8:10 I did not want to use the loop cut(don't know why), so i used knife tool to create an edge and extruded it out. Is there a reason why loop cuts should be used over creating edges with knife ???
Yep its a fancy sofa we carry this brand in our showroom and where i live it can cost from 10k to 18k euros depending on fabric or leather options , thats including taxes ...
hey andrew, instead of bing you can use ecosia. it uses the same search engine as bing but they plant trees and do something good for the nevironment ;)
Hi Guru! Any idea where to start if you want to learn how to model starting with scans of furniture? We can produce high quality scans but I dont know how to use them. Any tip on where to start would be great! Thanks!
If you are having trouble with snapping do not use side, front, top views. Rotate camera to some off angle. While snapping, hover your cursor over the desired snapping destination, in this case the face that you want to snap to. If you use side, front, or top view then your snap will always be off by a tiny amount.
@@FAPR1 I found the solution anyway. Problem was that i created the legs of couch when i selected another mesh at the same time at edit mode so modifier tried to bevel both mesh but it couldn't understand which object should be beveled. Don't create mesh when selected another object edit mode or dont move mesh in edit mode. 😁
That default Cube is such an imposition. It just feels random and impersonal. There's an easy fix. Delete it, then just shift+A your own, fully intentional, personal Cube. On a more serious note, THANK YOU, your channel, sir, has been an wonderful find for a noob like me.
@@BizlaC It LOOKS like Chrome because they are both Chromium-based. The new Edge, the new Opera, Brave, Vivaldi and of course Google's own Chrome are based off the open source Chromium browser. Firefox, IE and the old Edge are the only major not-Chromium-based browsers. But since Chromium was made by Google, you are correct if you say that Microsoft took code from Google. But it is not a rebranded Chrome. It is better than Chrome in almost every aspect but the difference is not significant. If you already have Chrome, you don't really need to delete it, but when installing on a new device, go for the new Edge. Cheers :)
@@munawwarabdulmuneer5877 I don't know if I can believe you guys. Is the new Edge really good or are you guys just fans of Edge and don't like chrome. Asking this isn't really gonna get me anywhere. I just want to hear your responses.
