I, like many others, fully appreciate this video very much. I understand you may not had wanted to leak out your methods of making the card, but this had just opened new doors for me to create custom cards for my nephew. Yesterday, he was talking about how he wanted an "Ash Greninja". I had to looked it up on google, then youtube, and found this video; didn't realize it was a custom at all. Being how the custom is made ontop of a real card, that just made this so much more 'authentic'. I thank you for sharing your method, I usually buy my nephew a booster box every now and then when I have the extra money on the Holidays. Now, I can work on creating some awesome customs for him instead of dropping $100's on packs of random cards (He usually searches for the rares, EX's, GX's to add to his folder collections, so the rest is usually just meaningless to him and that's wasted $$$) +1 thumbs up, fav'd and definitely subscribed. +Kraft T. Absolutely love the comment and am glad I could help! :) I may actually give a detailed run on how to make a card in the future in Photoshop. I've got some 15 years experience in it and have picked up some good tricks lol but yeah that's the whole point- now people can make the cards they and their kids want! And you're modifying something real so its even cooler. Wanted to add here, for some reason the new reprints of ancient origins are shaving down to be solid white. Like somehow Pokemon co figured out how to print holographically. Just something to keep an eye on, but pretty cool if you don't want Holo

Something I've realized trying to print my own sheets for this. You can buy Transparent Printable sticker paper and I thought this would be a quick way of doing this, but you need that Frosted/milky transparent paper in order for it to look right. Otherwise the foil overpowers the artwork. And I can't seem to find any sticker paper of the frosted paper. So back to spray adhesive haha

First I gotta say, I LOVE your work. Also, it kills me to see you running evolution rev holo cards. I know back then they were super affordable as well as gave a good holo pattern but nowadays, many of them are a bit pricey (which I'm sure you're aware of). Very common technique. Cool. Personally I like to paint the backgrounds of what I don't want foil. I do feel that you shouldn't have suggested going on deviant art to look for work. If someone decides to sell proxies like yourself they'd be stealing unless asking for permission to use the art.

I have an hp color laserjet cp5225, but when printing them you can reverse the image so that you have to flip the card on the other side, once it is flipped on the other side it makes it look shiny because when ink dries it is matte, also it locks the ink inside.

Hey im planning on following your tutorial and I have some questions: Can u use a holo card as the base card? I dont have a printer that supports printing on transparent paper, you think it would still work out if I tape the transparent paper to normal paper and print the image?

I've heard of that method working. Just make sure your transparency paper matches the type of printer you have. Inkjet vs laser. And then yeah that'd work too for the holo

How do you get around the air bubbles that form between the transparency film and the card backing? It happens to me nearly 100% of the time no matter what I try to avoid this

If you're not able to squeegee out the bubbles then your adhesive have may be a little too strong. You can add a little bit of a thinner to it in order to make it less strong so it'll take longer to dry but it'll be able to squeeze you the bubbles out. Double check what type of adhesive you have as your mixing chemicals so be extra safe!

do you need a certain printer for transparency paper? I also might suggest sanding sides and corners as well instead of just cutting. and maybe print it in reverse and put the print side on adhesive side to prevent potential damage to the image. I'm just not sure how the adhesive might negatively effect the image.

Does anyone have a tip on how to sustain the back of the card? When I rub off the front with acetone, the back always gets scratches though I used my table or newspaper as an underground to prevent that :

+Mr ChickenMgee Yep I design mine as color. White will print fully transparent. You have to make a PDF of the card at the size of a Pokemon card and give them that too print.

If you want to make a non-holo, you could attempt printing on the thickest matte paper you can find and then pasting onto a Pokemon card. I've got a different method but it's costly and involves car vinyl lol
