Buy a reel with a waterproof drag for a start. Rinse with freshwater immediately after fishing, air dry for at least a few days and keep it in a dry place. Pull the spool off and handle and bearing covers. Buy some light lube from a bicycle shop or reel oil from tackle shop, and drip into bearings and bail roller. Buy some light reel grease and lube the drag seal. Tri Flow, TF2 , light lubes. Reel grease, light grease, silicone grease, Dielectric grease. If you have allowed salt water to get inside, then good luck, it'll need a strip down.

I always rinse and dry reels and rods thoroughly. Occasionally drip some light Teflon lube inside moving parts. Nice to know this super glue trick works. Thanks from Australia.

Jis boet. Ek gebruik hierdie metode al vir die laaste 2 jaar behalwe dat ek n splitring onder gesit het. Ek lrobeer maar die kostes so laag as moontlik hou omdat ons meerheid van die tyd tussen die riwe hengel. Dankie vir die bright idea om net n loop te maak😅 my een vraag is, as die vis die hoek mis en net die aas gruip. Trek hy nie somtyds die float met die aas af van die dacron af nie?

It will but then you need to tie it around the hook its a bit thin if you start using hooks with a thicker gauge to hook throw and i don't like to tie it on because then the dangle doesn't move as freely on the hook as I like and that might interfere with your hookuos

Thanks for sharing the clear video, much appreciated. I decided to make a few, but found getting the length correct was a bit of a hit-and-miss affair. I then reversed the order and made the loop first, followed by the single granny not. This way it was very easy to get the exact length every time. Stywe lyne

2 Questions from novice: 1 will the sinker not come un done from the loop, why not just tie a knot and then you know it's secure. 2 - how does the fish get to the bait with that sinker in the front of it blocking the way. Thanks

Your first question answers your second...the sinker must come undone from the loop thats why it is made like that so that the fish can take the bait.
