In this video I make a wood clock from some salvaged scrap wood. It was my first time using my Ryobi Trim Router and after this project I think it's my new favourite tool!
I'm really pleased with the finished product. It's not perfect but I learned many things which I could improve on if I was to repeat this project.
=======
Tools used:
- Ryobi One+ Trim Router - amzn.to/2C8lIi3
- Ryobi One+ Planer - amzn.to/2CdEpkE
- Ryobi One+ Combi Drill - amzn.to/38bjTNj
- Long Shaft Clock Movement - amzn.to/3e7FeIK

I have to say, the original finish had a fab rustic vibe to it. I would gave left as is. A great little project, well done.

Nice job!! I had the same problem with mine, wood too thick, shaft too short. Imagine doing that with a dremel. I didn't have a router at the time, but I do NOW! So, the rest of my clocks will get done faster. Also, I need to order shafts that are longer (that's what she said). Anyway...that's a good looking clock, especially for the 1st time. Keep it up, I'm sure they'll look a lot different now that you are an "expert"!!

Good looking clock. Ive made a 4 sided frame jig for the back to router the square so the shape is perfect on all for edges. and just use this everytime i make a clock.

Use a damp sponge to remove the glue.

It's beautiful, but I would have switched it and made the back the front, I like the rustic look of the back.

Great video. Thanks. By the way. Its a ROW-ter. Not a Rooter. That sounds a bit rude. LOL.

Really not a good idea to GLUE in the clock works, if it no longer works they will get rid of it. With it not GLUD in they can get a new works and still keep the clock. The nut keeps the works secure in the clock. Nice clock. Oh, just noticed that this is 3 years old and I watched it in 2024. hehe

what kind of bit did you use to cut the wood to inset the clock mechanisim
@ajaykarwal
@ajaykarwal 2 года назад
Just a straight bit. Dont remember the size. It doesnt need to be anything fancy.. just something to create the required depth.

Está más preocupado por la limpieza que por el corte en radio al final le quedo mal y tiene que volver a rectificar y ya sin su aspiradora . A ves exageran .siento que estos video son más para presumir su herramienta que mostrar lo realizado

What can I put on the back so I can hang it up?
@ajaykarwal
@ajaykarwal 2 года назад
The clock mechanism usually has a spot where you hang it from. If yous doesn't have this, it would depend on your clock really. Perhaps a picture frame hanging loop?

I use sawthooth hangers. They sell at most hardware stores. They work great.

There really was no point in taping 12:00. The movement can go in any way. I wouldnt glue it in either, cant be replaced
