My first time actually seeing a fog effect, was when I was watching Philza's stream, he was showing his ocean monument build with the fog effect on the bottom. So I really appreciate the help Link.
If you mix glass colors (how I learned this) you can compact it by half, and it looks more complex. Examples being pink and red, white and light grey, blue and light blue, yellow and orange (or white).
Just a tip but u can add different colours of glass to make the fog darker without having to leave a gap between each layer. Eg black glass in between purple
I have a faint memory back when the fog effect was discovered and people would like put lava at the base and layer 2 different colors of glass, it's nice to see that it's easier these days
Nice video, I appreciate the explanation. I’m gonna make this in a ravine for a friend. It’s nice that you show the layers horizontally so that there’s no confusion as to how to place the blocks.
i already knew about the glass with one air block but not about the lightblock and carpet and i just finished it on my hardcore world and it looks way better thanks link!
@@georgelazurenko2715 wow this comment is old lol, its fine but the light source makes the effect much more noticeable and depending how deep you want the fog affect to be, you'll need a light block to have it work
Thank you for the help, I’ve been looking for what this effect was, I thought it was just a mirror effect with the glass and a reflective texture pack, looks great on Bedrock, really wish they added a texture for the better glass.
even better if you alternate between 2 types of colored glass instead of leaving a gap. It makes the effect more intense and you cant see the other layers of glass. Has to be 2 colors that fit together tho, like green and lime, black and grey, pink and magenta etc. Makes for an even better effect. Also you can see the light shining through more, so it's even more foggy. And lava also work really well instead of sea lanterns if you dont wanna build a farm for that
Idea, make a mine cart system where the railroads go on every block that your using for the bottom layer of fog with all different colors of the tile over it so when your looking from up top you just see a bunch of movement
Thanks! I will definitely be using this in my ocean monument build! One question I have though is do you need a light source on every single block under the glass? or can you space them out at all?
Thanks for the tutorial! Im currently trying to do a fog effect on my nether hub dome all around it and the floor ao hopefully i can make it look decent 😂
@@Linkzzey I'm going with a obsidian frame and magenta glass. Almost done with the first layer but I underestimated how big a 32x32 dome actually is 😅
I was trying to figure out why mine looks different and I realized that in bedrock for some reason the glass doesn’t get rid of that line of separation when you put the glass next to each other. So obnoxious
Guys so my glass boxes still have the seperate lines between them like you can see that they r seperate blocks instead of looking like 1 big block. So i was wondering if you can spdo anything about that? Thankyou 😊
@@Linkzzey like magenta, air purple air magenta? I did that and for the walls I wnet with purple concrete powder, I think i just need to add the light source at the bottom for it to work
So I did this in my world but I don’t know if it’s because of lighting or not but it doesn’t look the same as the ones in the vid. I did 9 blocks down instead of 8 and used glowstone but it still doesn’t look as good as yours does. What would cause this?I’m on bedrock so I can’t use any texture packs or anything as well.
Hmm it only really works with connecting textures but since your on bedrock you don’t get those but look into bedrock tweaks and see if there are any connecting glass packs for yourself :)
