I really appreciate all of your informative videos, Ian! 👌🏼 I’m also glad you incorporate a lot of Jason Yee’s (Train 2.0 Hockey) concepts, as that’s critical for today’s game. That being said, for sake of reference, what’s the flex and length of your stick, and what’s your height and weight? The reason I ask is you seem to flex your stick relatively effortlessly (7:42 ). How “hard” are you actually pushing down into the ice. I feel as if I get most of my flex by the “scissoring” action of my hands (top “snaps” back in and bottom pushes/guides out), but I don’t think I get a huge bow shape curve of my stick. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Thank you so _very_ much for your time and devotion! 🍻

HI Sascha... I have liked Jason's use of language for all of these skating and stick handling moves. I have used and taught them for years, but never had good nomenclature. I like how he has given these things names and unifying the language for people is a better way to go. I'm 5'10", 200 libs and my stick flex is 87. I cut my stick to the "standard" length of my chin (I am a defenseman by nature). To get a hard pass, I do push down relatively hard. I can hear a pretty loud scrape on the ice. For my longer, cross-ice passes, in order to keep the puck from lifting, i will push into the ice about as much as I push the puck forward. That action closes the blade and gives the puck a lot of energy. I only do this with players who can receive those as the passes are hard... but it's relative. I do this with any pass, really. The push down technique keeps the puck flat on the ice.
