Very clear tutorial. The only thing I do differently is, to save paper I only cut out a quarter of the pattern on the paper, then put it on the folded fabric. It is also easier to store the pattern piece. 😊
The amount of fabric/paper to put on fold will depend on the length of your skirt. Determine the length of the skirt you want to make and then measure your fabric/paper to that length, and make sure it is wide enough to take the length just as you see me do in the video.
So imagine a doll. That is our model. Let's say the model's waist is 10cm (4"), and it's a full-length skirt of around 25cm (10"). Note that where I live, symbols for division are different from yours. Since we need the ease allowance, the waist circumference of our doll is 5". 5:6.284=0.7956715468. That is around 0.8 The number we got is 0.8", and that's our radius. For the waistband, we need to subtract 2 inches from the length of the skirt. 10-2=8" But since we need the hem allowance, the number technically remains the same. Now, here are the questions: Was I correct? What if I want to add lace to the skirt? Does the technique work for split skirts? And what about lining?
Yes the technique will work for split skirts, all you will need to do is add seam allowances to the parts you are cutting, so as to be able to sew them back together. For lining, you will cut the same pattern on your lining, sew the lining the same way you will sew the skirt and them join them together. Thank you for watching.
