The very first time I went to put together a bouquet for the farmers market, I had to do a google search to figure out what to do. But, now, 4 years later, I feel confident with the tricks I've picked up from the experts, and by experimenting with my personal style. I walk you through how to make a great bouquet everytime, no matter if you are using fresh local flowers from your garden, or cheap bunches you can pick up at the grocery store. Understanding the basics of how to make a spiral bouquet, and the elements that you are working with, means that the process is simple. I also share lots of tips I've picked up along the way, so make sure to watch till the end!

I am so thankful for this video. I have been so excited to plant my first cut flower garden, buying seeds like I’m a large scale farmer or something hahaha up until this video I hadn’t considered that I have never done this before…I realized i could be in my backyard with tons to choose from and not know where to start as far and cutting and actually making the bouquets. Thank you for breaking it all down for me. Your an amazing teacher! I know your super busy but have you considered offering online course? Anyways love watching your videos and your your content 🌻 -Team Flowers

I don't think we are at a place to get online courses together, but its something to consider as a winter job next year. The first time I made a bouquet, I had to do a Google search to figure out what to do, lol. I haven't done a crazy amount of research on actual florist tricks, mostly just how to make bouquets, but there are lots of really help simple videos on RU-vid. You can make things complicated, but I think just focusing on simple mechanics, and not feeling too intimidated by need to copy someone else's style, is the base that everyone needs to confidently make a great bouquet

But I have seen her love of flowers just grow so immensely...as has mine ❤ I always wonder if I'm in over my head, but quite honestly, I can't live without these beautiful plants anymore. ☺Good luck to you and your daughter in your journey!

Hypericum berries. Spikey - Protea and Orangy foliage bits are Alstromeria Lillies. They are fantastic when boomed out. Dont be afraid to raise your color up a little above your filler, let it jump out. Ive been a designer for more than 30 years. You do a very good job. Cant wait for your gardens to be overflowing!!!

NICE!!! I say my market bouquets are made by a thumbs and toes florist! It gives you the license to create bouquets that people are generally going to recreate when they get home sometimes anyway. Fresh flowers are always going to be loved no matter how and who bunches them. We just have to have them.

Lol, I feel the same way. I learned about the spiraling, and it instantly made everything so much easier, and the bouquets look so much better. It sounds awkward, but it does sit really nicely in the hand, and it's a very natural movement even without a lot of practice

A good trick before bring in lots of stuff is to do a vase test. Not everything works well as a cut flower. I will cut 5-10 stems of something, and put it in a jar and see how long it lasts. If it lasts a week, then I'll use it for a cut flower. But lots of stuff will only last a day or two, and so those I just enjoy in the garden. Hope that helps!

It can be intimidating, but we are always our own worst critics. I always learn a lot by looking at bad examples and seeing the things I don't like about it, then making sure I don't do that myself. It can be hard to see what someone is doing right in the perfect examples, so I find it helpful to approach it in the opposite way.

Great video! You instinctively discovered the florist and landscaper's rule of 3s. For whatever reason, the human mind prefers arrangements with 3s (or any odd number, actually).
@YouCantEatTheGrass
@YouCantEatTheGrass 2 года назад
I actually cut out a whole section from this video because it's too long, where I was talking about the fact that I'm not strict about the rule of 3s. I find that it works well for the size of bouquet I normally do. But if I'm making a larger bouquet, I keep a similar recipe, and then work with 4s or 5s. I focus more on making things look balanced then on any specific number.
