I made a guitar pickguard! I’ve had this guitar for a long time and the plastic pickguard started to peel off a while back so I decided to make a new one out of walnut. This was a very challenging process for me, but it turned out great and looks good on the guitar as well. Enjoy!

The most difficult project is my (still on-going) electric guitar. There is so many things you have to know and so many steps. I still have to research how to make the fretboard properly... Wish me luck :D

Oh wow! Yes that is a big project for sure. I hope to build a guitar in the future as well. The fretboard is the most intimidating part. Good luck 👍

Sweet! I need to do this. My playing sucks, but maybe if my guitar looks better people will focus less on the playing and be more like, “Damn! Check out that custom pic guard!”

The most complicated project I’ve ever worked on was a fancy knife I decided to make. Made the blade just fine but decided it needed an ebony handle and a very specific decorative finger guard and pommel made of copper. Sooo off I went to to make a whole foundry set up from scratch and learn all about casting metal, making green sand, casting molds and flasks … It was supposed to just be a knife lol

I did something like this with a single piece of ore-cut this wood, just use a template and dry, bake out moisture, and then cut it to shape and seal it so no warping from moisture.

Sweet vid. Keep them coming. I just don’t have those tools you have. So it makes it hard when you’re limited to tools. When i have All these ideas it makes it tough. It also helps to have a garage and space to work
@MadebyMitch
@MadebyMitch 5 лет назад
Thanks staticswitch! And I totally understand the limited tools. I used only a circular saw and drill for a long time. Sometimes you just have to work with what you have. You have to get more creative with limitations so it can actually be helpful at times. Good luck with your making! Thanks!

For sue. Thanks for your reply. Can you make a video on how to make a 12 string nut or 10 string?. I need to make one for a Bajo Quinto Guitar. It has 10 strings and I need to make one. (.024 / .024) 1st set (.036 / .036) 2nd (.046 / .046) 3rd (.062 / .030) 4th (.078 / .036) 5th These measurements are from my GHS string kit. GHS BSX-10 Stainless Steel. store.ghsstrings.com/bajo-quinto-strings/ Just wanted to give you info about the strings and the type guitar I play. This would mean a lot if you did a vid. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bajo_sexto Thanks your the best!! Javier

Great Job.... currently i'm working on corbels for my breakfast room (as decoration) and the corners for installation are 5/8" off from a true 90 degree corner ... had to take the corbels apart and I'm having to install the horizontal/vertical sides independently of themselves. I expected some difference in angle degree but not 5/8". I laminated 2 2x6 (trimmed down to 4.5" wide) and they are 20" long. I thought of shimming but i have to make up the difference at the corner due to overall size.
@MadebyMitch
@MadebyMitch 5 лет назад
Wow! That seems like a lot of work just because of the angle being off. Good luck! Thanks Nancy!

Looks nice, would using thin wood veneer have been much, much easier?

Yes absolutely! What I did worked but it was a pretty rough way to do this. Lesson learned lol.

Is there a way to get the wood already made so that you can do your own art work on it?
@RevivedBuilds

NIce Mitch! What made you want to glue up multiple strips vs. resawing a thin piece that was big enought? Yeah I would say I built a coffee table for a client and used maple which doesn’t take stain well and had to redo the whole thing in oak. It took a while and was a big learning experience. Keep the vids coming!
@MadebyMitch
@MadebyMitch 5 лет назад
Thank you! Mainly because I don't have a good way to resaw yet. I could have used the table saw I guess. I hope to get a bandsaw soon that can handle it. Thanks for the comment.👍🏻

Hey Chris. I use Epidemic Sound for all of my music for the videos. This particular song is called "Vivid Space 3" by Daniel Gunnarsson. It can be found at epidemicsound.com

@@MadebyMitch Thank you very much for the response! The strange thing is I found it under the name "Locus Clouds - ILLUMINATOR" by using Shazam. However - that is the song I was looking for :)
