We used to make those cannons using 6 soda cans and only the first/bottom section needs to be a compartment for the fuel and fumes - the rest of the cannon is straight pipe "muzzle". Also, don't shake so long. Just squirt in the lighter fluid, shake it around to spread then insert your tennis ball. By then there should be enough fumes created to ignite. Have safe fun!
At first I was going to post the time stamp for the actual firing of the gun but then the misfires became more and more funny. The final shot is so satisfying after sitting through the failures.
i remember as a kid building this but inside the fuel tube we actually used a small rag covered in fuel and placed loosely inside before taping the tubes. when the fluid got too light you just add more to the rag the same way they showed her. great video, very funny!
We used steel beer cans back in the day. We got ingenious & used Coleman lantern fuel. We were left with a can in each hand out of 6 & the tennis ball was never found. No teenagers were harmed in the process, amazingly. 😂
we used the steel tennis ball cans, put one hole on side and one on bottom in center, also trimmed way more material out for max propellent flow, worked awesome!
Where you went wrong is for the chamber you want one can with a hole in the bottom / mettle bit make one hole sice of a pound then get another can and make a bigger hole so you want the one with the smaller hole at the bottom and the bigger hole on the top then get another pringles tube then cut the mettle pice completely off then stick that on top . Ammo get a can and wrap it in duct tape and make a ok seel not to tight because it could expload cut the to of the can off fill the barrel with deodorant and put the can in cut open side first get a match light the hole at the bottom and boom loud and really powerful don't ruah doing the match bit give it like 2 seconds then light it and don't stick the match in the barrel put the match about an inch away as deodorant will come out slowly and it will come in contact with the match . Have fun and be careful as its louder than a gun shot no joke and i haven't found the cans as they are to far
Works much better with Campbell's soup cans, and hollow all cans except the bottom one, put a tiny hole on the side of the bottom can, I could break a window from across the street with a tennis ball. Shoots around 50yards. We used an electric trigger mechanism from a bbq lighter.
We used to do it with cans. We cut the top and bottoms off of all of them, but the lowest one. We put a smaller hole in the top of the lowest one, and of course the hole for the lighter fluid. After squirting the fluid in, we didn't put the ball in yet. We took it and shook it so air flowed through it from the top to the bottom, to mix with the fluid. Then, we put the ball in the top, and lit it. The ball would shoot across the street.
about 45 years ago we did this Back when the soda cans were steel.tennis ball fit nice and snug.The cannons would blow up sometimes,but boy did those balls fly
it lacks of air after you fired one.. you can also make the hole a bit bigger and longer.. or you can just make a tiny hole on the bottom of it, and it should be sending a good fire amount. but if you do that make sure you wrap your entire cannon with duck tape, otherwise it can't handle the large bang and your cannon will explode and harm yourself
O.k. - two things you've done wrong: 1. you need to remove the entire bottoms of the first two cans & 2. the touch hole should be in the center of the bottom of the last can, not the side. Also, if it doesn't blast itself apart, you're not using enough fuel.
