Hi Elizabeth, I love the way you made that old wooden box look so gorgeous with the red velvet lining. Your video is exactly what I was looking for because I've got a new wooden box that I'm making into a jewellery box for a friend. I've painted the inside and outside with primer and then white paint over the top, and I'm either going to decoupage the outside or I might paint stripes in grey or blue over the white base. I've bought half a metre of navy blue velvet to line the inside of the box and some good fabric glue - which I've done a patch with on the velvet, and it works really well because the special fabric glue is made so it doesn't seep through the velvet, yay!😅) So thank you Elizabeth for the video. It's a great help. Love from Amanda Jones in Melbourne, Australia

As someone with a laser I will say you CAN burn through a finish, it just gives off pretty bad fumes so it’s better to avoid unless you have really really good ventilation

I was cringing watching you work on that beautiful Provencal cotton tablecloth - what a waste! Use a plastic sheet instead! What a poor job you did on almost everything. I don't anything about the wood burning, which looked nice but the refinisihing and lining - poorly done. 1. Line it tightly not loose. Don't use paper, use plastic. Paper crumbles and gets wet. Not cleanable. 2. Spread qlue evenly not in squiggles. No wrinkles on cloth. 3. Strip old finish off box using stripper and 00 steel wool. Do not use sanding to remove finish! 4. Wipe off waxy stripper remnants with acetone and steel wool and paper towel. 5. Now you can sand with a 220 grit, then with 400 grit for silky smooth. 6. Stain, or if you want the natural color warmed by oil, use boiled linseed oil generously over box inside and out. Let it soak in for 10 mins. Wipe off excess. Let box dry for 2 days in good weather. 7. Use dark black stain on box sides, NEVER use paint - it will clash with the stain. Stain is transparent, paint is opaque. They do not match. This is a poor design choice. 8. Wait for stain to dry 24 hrs. 9. Thin out Varethane Oil Based Clear Interior Satin Polyurethane (read this carefully no shortcuts on type) This is not water based. Satin, not Gloss. Clear. Interior grade. Use Mineral spirits or Paint Thinner 60: 40 Polyurethane. Mix in a small glass jar. Do not shake! Stir gently. Tap jar to release bubbles. 10. Apply thin Poly coat over wood. Let it soak in for 10 mins. Wipe off with paper towels. Do not let it get tacky and thick. Let dry 2 hrs in hot weather. 11. Sand with 400 grit sandpaper lightly by hand. You are removing any dust flecks, and craters that formed from air bubbles. Wipe with tack cloth. 12. Repeat poly coating steps and sanding down. Tap jar before use each time, swirl, tap, use. 13. Last coat leave it alone to dry, no sanding. 14. Finish off with Mylands Clear Finishing Wax or Microcrystalline Wax. Polish hard. Done. Don't rush wood working or you will remain an amateur forever and make mediocre junk. All good things take time.

I do food straight up, fine dining.... as someone with skills, from one artist to another, try to candy coat things better especially if it’s constructive advice or you sound like a dick. I am the top ten meanest people I’ve ever met but my talents are not questionable, “you do get more with a handshake and smile to start with kicking and screaming.” However that goes, with any advice you bestow remember your tone and how it can be construed, everyone is different even if your just trying to help. ;) I get you tho!

Alas I’ve been to 20 cities and can break you down far faster then your shit explanation on anything. R4ping you w a cheese grater would be just for funzies 🤪
