This is Part 1 of a 3 part animated lesson that will how you how to set out, mark out, joint and assemble a wide topped saw stool. Its wide top gives an option for clamping wood, drill/tool slots etc....so its also a mobile mini work bench.
Its legs are tenoned and fox wedged into the top and it has end rails that are dovetailed in to its legs ( no mechanical fittings/fixings-just pure joinery). It will also have side rails with a grooved in tray when completed.
This is a challenging furniture building project whose setting out also relates to Hopper, Canopy and hip roof geometry.
If you are looking for a quick slap together saw stool with a low learning value ....this is not for you.

Michael, This is a really useful demonstration and explanation to compound angled mitre cuts. As usual , your graphics are extremely clear and so helpful to interpret and visualise measurements and the laying out process both orthographically and isometrically. Will be interesting to view all the remaining parts. On a related theme , perhaps sometime in the future you could post a short video on joints with splayed linings ( eg: a box with splayed sides of dissimilar width). Related to these concepts would be the intersection of two inclined mouldings ( one of which is specified) with the angle between the plans of the mouldings given. A good example of this would be a handrail attached to an obtuse angled vertical corner of a stairwell. A video on this topic would be wonderful and resolve many related setting out jobs involving raking angles. Refer to Advanced Constructive Geometry by J.F.Dowsett (Oxford University Press 1927) p136 and p284 respectively for this and many more incredibly detailed drawings and explanations. You will appreciate the content of this detailed well written book and it may suggest other practical and useful YT posts to make. THANK YOU once again for sharing your skill and knowledge- the videos are SO HELPFUL and much appreciated given the background work required for their production. Most grateful!!!!

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions Jeff. I intend to order the book you suggest in the the next few days and will pay particular attention to the pages you have mentioned. It takes a few days to produce 10-15 minutes of an animated video with a vioce over, but worth it now that its done, especially as it caters to the visual learning style and so will help provide a more universal design for learning.
