Your original compositions in the background have the perfect How It's Made energy. The music is at least 50% of why I watch these videos.

Thanks for sharing. Greetings from USA, Oregon. I have been fascinated with Kora type instruments and yours is the best and simplest design I have found. The drum type resonators are harder to make.

I love making home made flutes and stringed instruments. Also percussion. With each note I play, I proclaim "I AM ALIVE!" So glad I found your RU-vid channel! Subscribed. This is an instrument I have wanted to make/play for a long time. It sounds so magical, and perfect background for storytelling. Maybe a tin can Sitar and/or Tanpura is in your future? This is the kind of thing that should be taught in every school, wood shop. Thanks for sharing, and best wishes for your continued success.

I was trained as a classical pianist for most of my childhood-young adult life, but feel like I missed out on a lot of diversity in the musical world. These kind of creative projects are very fascinating to me but sometimes feel over my head - would you have any recommendations about where someone with a background can learn about more advanced music theory? So happy I found your content.
@RichardJohnson-fb9ys
@RichardJohnson-fb9ys 3 года назад
Hey man I’m not him but what would you say is the most advanced and interesting concept to you? There are some cool concepts like Prepared Piano where objects are inserted into the piano. There’s also microtonality like with some music like Taylor Brook which sounds crazy. There’s also conduction which is a method of improvising based around the act of conducting which was used by Butch Morris.
@lmarsh5407
@lmarsh5407 2 года назад
Lol, I am not a pianist but this is kinda funny to me. So you want diversity, but also more advanced music theory? Hmmm it is hard to get both due to the nature of them (as advanced tends to be more specified.) but for my recommendation to you: I love learning about middle Eastern music theory, it is very different yet also advanced like western music. In the video I guess you could look for West African music theory? but!! There is something even more valuable to learn in my own subjective opinion. Learn to improvise. For somereason classical pianists aren't taught to improvise and it seems very scary to them, so improvising in different genres or even classical music would be a very impressive feat for someone of your background edit: for reference I am simple a teen who plays oud and guitar and think I can maybeeeee provide some insight. So take all I say with a grain of salt obviously
@joeperry512
@joeperry512 2 года назад
@@lmarsh5407 where did you learn oud? I've wanted to for some time but never got around to it. I want to learn more eastern theory but no clue where to start. -am also a teen‿̈ fun seeing others in my boat
@lmarsh5407
@lmarsh5407 2 года назад
@@joeperry512 i first learnt oud by myself!! I just listened to artists like trio joubran and mimicked their style and then just fiddled with oud for a while. In terms of music theory I later bought some beginner oud books. I found I picked up a few of the techniques anyways but they'll tell you a few others as well as different maqamat (like a scale) to practice on. So I reccomend simply getting an oud book if you already have an oud lol!

I'll give you a good life hack about homemade piezoceramic pickups. If you take two identical plates of piezo emitters and put their metall sides to each other (glue or solder), you can solder a balanced audio cable to them. The metal center will be the shield wire, and the cold and hot wires will remain at the edges. This avoids noise. In addition, it is possible to take a difference signal from two points. However, it is worth making sure that the plates give signals of the same polarity when bent in the same direction.

Encore merci 🙏🏻
