since making these ovens is relative cheap i think its better to build a real small but long oven (like 1 inch x 25 inch inside) it would be heating up much faster because of lower volume and less space between coil and steel. (btw why do you delete my comment twice, its just a recommendation for new content)
@@hyperhektor7733 because he already said something about that, he has his own ideas man. You basically told him to do something he specifically said he wouldn't do.
i already plan to build a oven very similar but quite a bit bigger than this, i already have one this size and your video on the metal foundry really helped me back then. This is such useful information!
Good stuff! I've not seen your vids for a few years, in fact you were a kid then! It's great to see that you are still making vids and I can see the progression of your work over that time. Nice oven/kiln! Keep up the good work!
I'm a new subscriber and you spoke about appreciating your work . Let me say that as a person who loves learning new things in life , I sincerely appreciate every single effort that you've made and I thank you for building that heat treatment oven .. So thank you for sharing this video with me and all .
Those final welds look spot on. You dont need too much more practice, I remember laying down "birdshit" welds when I was an apprentice, just slow the pool down and it all comes together. ;)
I just discovered your slingshot video from some years ago, and am pleased that you are building more and more sophisticated things. It's nice to see videos that don't waste time laying out all the materials and drag on. Your pace is perfect. I have a nice Paragon glass kiln, and it doesn't look very different than yours. I love that you turn your own heating coils. Looking forward to more.
Glad to see a new upload from you. I think your generously thorough in how you present, explain and build tools. You inspire me to get off my ass and build things. Lol. I'm a stranger to the world of electricity and electrical work so I won't attempt to build your furnace. However, if I do well in school and find out that electricity is something that I can understand and respect, I'm going to take a crack at building this. I'd love to build and have my own electrical furnace to melt metal. Thanks for taking the time to create and share this video.
Hello Artof, good to see you back again. It's great to see you've come on so well with your design and craft work. You're a skilled young bloke that's for sure! It will be nice to see some future projects that make use of this oven. I'm sure it will be a match for any commercially made product. Best wishes.
I think it's high time you start receiving job offers for high end product development for robust tools in weary industries... The level of perfection you apply in your projects is simply amazing (especially remarkable, given your youth!!) and you always seem to have thought about most everything... unfortunately I didn't get your video in my feed even though the bell is activated. I do check in on your channel manually, because I'd never want to miss any of your content :)))
Cheers man! I did have a job offer for a manufacturing company that I worked for at the start of this year actually which was nice, but little creativity there. It's a shame about the notifications, I have noticed this video hardly has any views so I'm thinking it's a problem on RU-vids part there.
I love how you inspired vegoilguy for the foundry, and he inspired you on the heat treatment oven. You guys both have great channels, keep up the great work!
It's been ages since you last video. Well done, great design, and fantastic video. Sucks when a blade cracks. I still use oil to quench my blade, and I've had a couple break.
If you're still having problems with cracking, try quenching from a lower temperature. Yellow is hotter than necessary for steels. Bright red to red-orange should be sufficient.
Great to see a new video from you! I appreciate they take a long to make, not just filming but all the editing) but hoping you can upload maybe a video every month even if short vids, for example this 16 min vid could even have been 2 x 8 mins :)
I know you get this comment a lot, but it's fantastic seeing your craft get better and better and better. I remember watching your earliest videos and thinking that for a kid the quality is amazing; now you're nearly as old as I was back then, and not only has the quality climbed higher and higher but the scale is magnificent. Keep knocking them out, brother. ps is that a welsh accent?
I am impressed-you wound your own coils. A month seems a bit long. You designed it before building so i cant see more than 2 8 hour days for the construction. (I used to build much larger versions)
Sweetest! I'm your 1,100'th like! LOL Dude, you are AWESOME!!! This video is so awesome and you made this so easy for DIY'ers!!! Thank you for your content and super excited to see more!!! *** I've gotta ask, approximately how much total "Time" and "Money" did you put into this project???
Hi, could you make a few inner sleeves out of the bricks to place inside the oven to tailor the inner chamber size to suit the current job requirements? It would save you having to heat up the unnecessary volume.
Excellent craftsmanship. Btw I know this is gonna sound funny but you sound EXACTLY like the voice actor for Jerry Jackson one of David Firth's creations. Are you Jerry Jackson?
Looks like a great build! Was the welding the most time consuming part? Everything else seemed reasonable on time. Anything you would change if you built another one?
I might need to build one of these. This is essentially industrial-grade heat treatment in a desktop package, I can't think of anything like it. How much cost have you sunk into it?
@@taow Even without the door, the time you've put in shows. The fit and finish is beyond what I would expect for something made by a young man in his garage. I look forward to the next part!
nice job, simple and functional. How long does it take to reach 800 °? Where can I find calculations for the electrical part? Is there any excel sheet that I can use?
It seems like most of your work involved making the enclosure. Would it be possible to adapt something pre-made? I am thinking maybe a used metal mini fridge or a single drawer filing cabinet.
Another thought. How about making the enclosure out of sheet metal as per ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dfm3rk3ybWg.html&ab_channel=QualityHVACR?
taow you did a great job on your oven i just finished mine yesterday not as nice as yours though i had a question what did you use to make your channels in the brick for your elements what kind of router bit? can you post a link to it thanks Mark
Hi TAOW, Your videos are great thank you. I’m in the process of designing a heat treating oven and wanted to get your input on the element sizes. The internal measurements are 15.24 cm high by 13.97 wide by 34.29 cm long. I am looking to treat knives and small tools and can run either 120v or 220v. My designs is similar to what you have posted here. Any feedback on Ohms Watts and Amps would be appreciated.
