I couldn't agree with you more on this! When people describe something that in itself is a technical process they tend to use all the technical terminology and then most people have no idea what is being said. I loved how this was made so everyone could follow along and understand!
*!!!!! FOR ANYONE WITH ISSUES RUNNING THE START.BAT FILE !!!!* There are two types of java. There is "JRE" which is the official version of java that allows you to run jar applications / run java code and JDK, which is a development kit. You need BOTH installed in order to run the start.bat file properly. A normal Java install wont cut it, you need JDK too (for which you can easily find a download on the official site). This took me a while to figure out as I had no idea there were two different "types" of java sort to say... At 2:40 he says you need java 7, what he meant is you need JDK 7, not Java 7 since that would imply JRE 7..! Best of luck :)
It was so stressful to try and get a server working with other tutorials since they never worked for me. I stumbled upon this out of pure coincidence in my recommended, decided to follow along and now I don't have to rely on aternos or minehut ever again. for everyone having issues opening the start file: this occurs if the file name is incorrect (say server(1) instead of server) or if the original file was deleted. hope this helps someone, i struggled on it for a while but seems like its working now.
i try to do the eula thingy and when i try to open the start file a black window pops up for a split second and then closes. I have the java 17 thing, and it still wont work. I have also tried to restart my computer and change it to server(1), still no work.
@@notshrimp12kid71 thats what is supposed to happen, as long as the text in the start.bat file for the name of your "server.jar" is the same as your "server.jar" file then a black box will appear, disappear, and then the folder will update with all the relevant files, then you change eula to true, save the file, then run start.bat again

when i try to open the start.bat file it just wont open. itll open for like 0.1 seconds and then close itself. i have java 17 downloaded too i dont know what is wrong
Make a text file, put in (java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar server.jar nogui) without the parenthesis. Save it and convert .txt to .bat. Make sure it is in the server folder then run the .bat file by double clicking it. You can search online how to add more ram. Currently it is 1gb.
it doest work, i downloaded java 1.17 but the batch file doesnt open and when it does it like doesnt show anything or doesnt load, idk what to do i also tried a similar way earlier but the same thing happened, do u know what i could do
Hello , Mojang did lil oopsie , when you create command for start.bat it doesn't have to be ''java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.1.19.1.jar nogui'' , but you can replace ''minecraft_server.1.19.1.jar'' with ''server.jar'' instead , this should fix your problem.
When i click start.bat, the cmd prompt shows then disappears instantly then nothing happens, do you know why this happens, if you do, can you please tell me why

I appreciate this video, and it is helpful, however it leaves out critical details in order to actually play with people that are not on the same network. Nothing about port forwarding, which is essential to hosting a server like this.
@@HardView I know. My point is, this title is not incorrect, but it’s misleading. It lacks information that is essential in setting up a server such as this. It says “Play Minecraft Java with Your Friends” in the title, which you can’t do with solely the information provided in the video.
I have a glitch were iT shows the text for 1 mili second and iT Goes away idk why (idk what i did wrong i think the start.txt) nope that aint the problem i just cannot do it😢 also iT says 50 bytes by me and 53 by you is that wrong?

hi mate, im having a problem where after changing the .txt to bat and running it im not getting any other files on the folder, is there anything i can do about it?
When I click on the .bat file, it appears for less than a second and I can't see where to agree to anything because it closes immediately. There's no other files appearing. I'm blocked. Again. No method seems to work.

I am so confused... I have done everything in this video, I have port forwarded, everything under the sun. however, even after all of this, my friends are still unable to join my world. I am starting to get very agitated that nothing i've tried to get this working has succeeded. I would greatly appreciate some kind of assistance from anyone who might have a solution to this

I don't have a solution but I also have a problem, my cmd doesn't run for me to get the eula agreement. help if available, will accept any ideas. P.S. I installed java 17 twice so it's not that.
@@babygurl32710 Not to keep it going, just to explain my thought process, they could have found out the answer themselves. I have seen it happen a few times but I do understand what you mean. It can be pretty exasperating when someone doesn't help you out. If anyone however does know how to fix it, then please comment on how to fix.

I had the same problem. But I figured out that you need to install Java 19 now instead of 17. And make sure to run the bat file two times else the eula file will not appear. Hope it helps :D
great tutorial! it works perfectly and i can easily join, but there is one problem. when me friend types in the ip to the server, it just keeps loading. he cant even join it. is there a solution to this problem?
You gotta go in your router settings, and port forward port # 25565 on TCP and port # 19132 on UDP. Restart your router afterwards. There are many online tutorials you can watch on port forwarding. Pretty simple process.
Can someone help guide me? I downloaded the 64-bit Java for windows but when I went to click the start.bat it would pop up but then close. Does anyone know what to do to fix it?
It's a good video. But for me the after making the BAT it just loads into oblivion. So the command line opens for a tick and then goes away. All it has is a single line of the location of the server; then closes. No clues and no results for this kind of problem.

if you cant open bat file even after installing java 17, just restart the whole proces but this time with java 17 installed in the first place (also remove the old server.bat & server.jar file first). worked for me
Doesn't work for online friends? I thought this was to get online friends not on the same ip to be able to join, but it says "connection timed out", and it is not a connection issue.
if anyone gets the error saying they have to accept eula in the cmd prompt, make sure you got the latest version (java 19), not 17 since this video is a bit older
