me and my friends make weird and funny comics together about school life or any thing that pops into our brain. i now need a box to store just a quarter of those comics.
Dang dude, you got me thinking on this one. I’m in the thick of writing the script and designing characters for my comic, but I really like the idea of doing a mini. Thanks for the food for thought man.
I’d really like to get your thoughts on my work @Peter Palmiotti. I’ve got a couple videos up on my channel. I’m not much of a talker 😅 but I want to get better.
This guy is what some other youtube artists should be like, simple directions not "first you have to get all the colours to copic brush pens then get all different kinds of rubbers sharpner for that and sharpner for this". But he's actually different from the others, for example when he was doing the 1 hour mini comic challenge. He didn't do it for just us he did it for him to give him a good challenge. Unlike jazza ( which I still very respect btw ) who just does something simular to something else like some sort of pen or marker or some tack and clay.and also When he thinks we didn't get it he uploads another one, and because he failed on the last one so he tried again for his sake and for ours.
Been very hesitant on starting making my comic and this video has inspired me to start it today. It makes it feel really simple like something I'd do as a kid so it isn't intimidating at all. I'm going to recommend this to all my art friends. Thank you!
This looks so fun! Thank you for this idea! As a retired old man who always wanted to make a comic, I now have a fun activity to do with my grandkids and in my free time. 😁 Sincerely, Robert
Hi, Marsh! Danny here from the UK. Thank you SOOO much for the tutorial on making mini comics! I love the way you pitch the whole thing! Very informative and inspiring! I have had so many ideas over the years, but never thought about mini comics as a vehicle for my ideas. Thanks to you, I have just finished my first mini comic, with loads more to come!!!!!! Thanks, Marsh. RESPECT!!!! ❤
Really helpfull, many thanks for putting this up. I want to draw comic for my future husband as a gift for wedding/10 years anniversary. This is good point to start
I've been getting into my sketchbook recently. I really enjoy getting lost in the art. This mini-comic thing is such a great idea. I'm definitely going to have to give it a try in the near future. Thank you for this kickass video, Marsh!
thank you! This is really inspirational. I have trouble getting started because the process seems so daunting but making mini comics and expanding as I learn is a brilliant idea!
I appreciate this video man, I never even knew that mini comics were a thing before seeing this. Working on my first one right now and I’m LOVING IT so far :) it’s so easy to sketch out a rough timeline over the course of 8 pages :) the script and pictures and layout just comes to me with each progression that I make! Thanks again!
I’m made a mini comic where a guy is bounty hunter and uses a gun camera that shape shifts into a gun to a camera and uses it to kill the enemy and he takes picture of clues or evidence of the next victim ,thanks for this video and making it easier to make comics and making this cool comic
Gotta say, after watching how simple it is to make these mini comics, I find myself thinking about making them. I've been wondering if I'd ever do anything with all these characters my brain comes up with. Thank you for the great video. Truly wonderful to see.
Great vid, I always wanted to make a comic and you showed us how to start easily, and honestly, it turned out to be greater than I expected. Thank you 😁 I subscribed too 😘
Yes there's all kinds of options for paper thickness I don't know the specifics but I would say just experiment with different ones to figure out which one you like. People who make mini comics will make them out of anything including just typical computer paper. I used a little bit thicker paper and a very light cardboard stock for the cover on this one. 😎
Hey! greetings from Spain, very interesting way to do comics! i have 1 or 2 ideas for short-story comics and i will try to make this way in my free times too... congrats !
I can help you with your story writing. It's not that hard. I just wrote an article about what a story is in its most basic form and how to write it. Feel free to use the story I write in this article for your first comic! eddyfy.wordpress.com/2019/08/04/what-is-a-story/
Think of the journey from the bed (getting up) to the bus stop for work/school. Then think of all the things which can go wrong to make you late, and pick out the ones which have visual appeal and humour. Did the alarm go off or did you throw it at the wall yesterday? Did the dog eat your breakfast? Did you rush out wearing odd shoes or your slippers?
I recently got into drawing and then got into the idea of making small comics but me using one paper for my comic I found a good way to fold the paper to make a small book with zero staples and I don't use any ink I just use a black color pencil for my dark lines
Hey! Do you have any tips for short comedic episodes? You've inspired me to make a mini comic, and it's about a food world with some fun antics (a little like adventure times style). But I'm having trouble knowing if it's going to make people laugh or not. Any sure fire ways to keep things comedically appealing?
I think surprise and irony is at the heart of comedy. Lead people one way and then the punchline is something that the audience didn't expect. Maybe because it's the opposite of what they thought or just different in an ironic way. Also be clear and try to make sure the timing (pacing) is right. Hope that helps!
You absolutely can in fact a lot of people get away with just really nice tight pencils and then they do some work in Photoshop to boost up the contrast! Inking was more important back when the printing process was different and they needed the dark lines to be able to print better quality. But it has become part of the aesthetics of how Comics typically look so most people still do it in one way or another. But you can literally use any medium you want to make a comic as long as it will print. Doesn't have to be ink 😎
Does art style matters or the story matters the more?? But this is still great!! *PS: In case you don't know me, I already walkthrough your channel, and the name of my first channel is Channel needs subscribers and i am making a comic name " the eternal life of tomorrow" its actually comedy, fantasy and action!!
