This video shows how to make a fun Mini Snap Bag. These are great fun to make and make great gifts. The pattern is available to purchase and download on www.gourmetquilter.com
A ha I never thought of stating away from the top and reversing would stop those threads , Thankyou for that little snipping of info and I think it's genious to use an old measure .
I love this! I'm running to the nearest dollar store to get tape measures so I can make a bunch off these to use as name tags/gift toppers for Christmas. So happy this showed up on my feed! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and for taking the time to do these tutorials. I'm a newbie at sewing and quilting, and you have provided me with many videos to keep me learning. I'd never sew if it weren't for great people like you sharing, at no cost to me. (learning is expensive enough, with all of the mistakes I make! lol)
Made a couple of these tonight. I prefer your tutorial to the Riley Blake one. Your casing is better. Once I figured out which tape measure worked best (the narrower weaker one rather than the super strong wider one) I was happy with the result. I can see myself making more of these.
Your directions are so clear. If you can find METAL blinds you will have an almost endless source of "snaps" They work just great .I tried the plastic mini blinds but they didn't have enough snap.
Thanks Susan Claire for a great tutorial. I've just made two of these for Christmas gifts - one a mini snap bag to go with one of your zipper pouches in the same fabric. The second is a glasses case - that wasn't so easy to turn right side out but I got there. My metal tape snappers are fine but next time I might follow a poster's suggestion to double up. Also I overlocked/serged the side seams rather than zigzag.
Thank you for this video. I love the idea of using the tape measure! I think I will use this technique to make myself a bandolier-style cellphone case. :)
Thank you - I’d heard of using those tape measures to make a purse but never saw it done! 7:19 “Don’t go getting carried away…” 🤣 It’s easy to get carried away when sewing!
I love this. You are such a good teacher and you are fun to watch too. I am also going to make a mug rug that I saw on one of your tutorials. Very cool.
Awesome tutorial and so easy to understand and follow. Thank you for sharing your sewing ideas with us :) Look forward to following you and watching more of your tutorials...
Of all the many videos I've watched for this type of project, yours is by far my very favorite! Being an OCD person myself, I love how detailed your instructions are. Thank you very much for posting this and I am so grateful to have found you. I am now making these bags in all sizes for my sisters and myself and you have become my new best friend! Edit: Two yrs later since I 'found' you and I'm still making these little bags. I originally made 2 for each of my sisters (glasses and makeup cases) and now I'm making for my daughter and grandchildren to store their cross stitch supplies in. These are just the most wonderful little gifts and I am so grateful that you took the time to share your talents with us.
Hi Miss Susan! Great video! What a cute, great gift idea! You have such a wonderful way of teaching all your techniques, and your videographer does a super job of coming in close to show us what we need to see! Thanks again for all your wonderful tutorials! I am always looking to see what you will come up with next! Thanks so much!
I love this little pouch! I've watched several other snap pouch tutorials and this is by far the best. Thank you for your clear and easy to follow tutorial.
I've watch several of your videos and just discovered this one, which is exactly what I needed! I was trying to find a way to build a similar small sized bag to hold a smartphone. Thank you!
Thank you for the great videos.....I already made one of your easy pillow cases, but these Mini Snap bags would be really cute with a favorite design embroidered on it.........and so personal. Having an embroidery machine...which I love, I am always looking for projects.
My husband never throws anything away. I bet he's got a few tape measures that the springs have quit working in. I could clean them up and use them. This is a really good tutorial and this little bag is just as cute as a button.
A few days ago, I deconstructed my grandma's snap purse and it's exactly the same at yours.. She bought hers in Pakistan over 40years ago.. Thank you so much for sharing..
You are the greatest instructor, Susan! I enjoy every single one of your projects. I owe you much appreciation for all the gifts I’ve been able to make friends and family. God bless you and your family.
In the earlier videos I watched of yours, you used a different sewing machine that showed no brand markings & I wonder what sewing machine beside this Bernina you use. I really enjoy your very quick, instructive & effective videos-I feel I could take on any of those tasks after listening & watching!
I live out in the sticks and thought I would have to order a clip online and wait impatiently until it was delivered. Now I just have to go to the dollar store and pick up a tape measure. Way cheaper and much faster. I am so pleased you shared your clever idea. I look forwardbtonatching morenof your videos. Dewey in Texas
You are so cute. I was having heart failure about cutting a tape-measure but remembered that the $1 store sells them so I am not so worried about getting one and cutting it all up.
Brilliant! Seriously - I'm going to stop on the way home for some sacrificial tape measures and make a bunch of these this weekend. It's just the season for little gifts and for charity craft sales and such. I think I'll make some longer ones as eyeglass holders and some just the size to hold a gift card. You are such fun to watch and clever!!! And what a great way to use some really fun novelties fabrics!
What a brilliant idea! Believe I am going to make this to coordinate with your "simple bag" and fill with goodies for this holiday season. Thank you. I always thoroughly enjoy, and learn from, your tutorials.
