Have you ever wanted to make a fancy leather halter set for one of your favorite model horses? WELL NOW YOU CAN!!! 🤩 In this DIY tutorial you'll see exactly how I craft my deluxe leather model horse halters as well as how I put on their name plates! Treat your Breyer Horses, Peter Stones, Schleich, and more to leather halters made by you with the help of this tutorial! 🥳
TOOLS NEEDED-
Scissors, a leather working block, something to poke holes in leather with (for this I'm using a mechanical pencil and a hammer - DON'T JUDGE ME IT WORKS), glue of some sort, xacto knife, pounce wheel, a metal hobby file, tape, pliers, and wire cutters!
MATERIALS NEEDED-
1/8th inch leather lace, three buckles with buckle tongues, two halter rings, four 6mm jump rings, one heavy gauge 6mm jump ring, one small jump ring, chain, a name plate, multiple headpins (these are for jewelry making), a lead rope clip, and a throat latch clip!
If you aren't sure where to get the materials from - I get my leather lace from Leatheroolace on Etsy but Rio Rondo sells it as well (be sure to get the 1/8th inch size), I get all of my hardware from Rio Rondo (you're looking for 1/8th inch size on the buckles and traditional scale for everything), and I always get my chain from Hobby Lobby or Michaels!
