in this video we will build a mortar and shell that's powered by butane and can be used for airsoft, paintball or just to have some fun in your back yard! Check out how I made a rpg air cannon • RPG style air cannon/a...
Lighting a fuze thats cut to a certain length that once its gone a parachute opens and the parachute opening causes the front of the shell to pop open and some fireworks fall down and as they fall they expload with bbs taped to the fireworks
Okay so I'm a plumber a few tips bevel your pipe to prevent scrapping your glue out of the fitting and use that glue and primer like your boss is paying for it. Also if you plan on having this last make shure its schedule 40 or 80 not thin wall scrap. Cool video man think I'll modify this idea
@@The_Rogue_Workshop I was thinking about doing this but with a foam projectile. I don't want the fire though so is it possible to do this but instead of a barbeque igniter and butane would a valve and pressurized air/c02 work?
Maybe, it’d be a pretty complex design tho, if you wanted to use foam you could soak some paper towels In baking soda water and then dry them and it makes fire resistant paper and you could wrap the bottom of you foam in that. Also foam is pretty light weight so I’m not sure how well it’d work, but I’m currently in the process of making a version 2 were it’ll have a barrel and foam might work better in that, I’ll try it out and see!
The problem with all of these airsoft indirect fire weapons is they are way too high energy. It would never be allowed at any field. The real is genius to come up with something low energy and long range so it can actually be used in airsoft without hurting someone.
Wow, gr8 vdo on making a mortar. Can U designed a mortar that give a explosion on impact w/ BBs & smoke? That would really b a cool mortar. Thx 4 sharing on Utube.
Instead of dropping the charge why not place the ignitor out one side and the chamber fix in the bottom. I forget the type of mortar but some small mortars fire that way. Like a gun. This way the tube can fit the projectile better thus giving better range. Or it should if built right. Plus holding the tube by hand until you have the right angle then fire should give more precision. In the heat of battle its easy to move after you drop the charge. Most mortars that fire the way you built this one have a bi pod. Thus giving better precision and stability. The one im thinking of might be the 60mm mortar but its been so long I forget. I got out the military in 1997. But its videos of them ive watched. Usually SF / Green Beanies use them. If I find one I post a link.
That’s a blaze’n good idea! I wanted to keep the mortar realistic so that’s why I had the ignition in the round itself, but I didn’t know that an outside ignition was actually a thing. That would solve a lot of problems with range Thanks for the advice, I’ll maybe make a version 2
@@The_Rogue_Workshop yeah the type I described isn't as visually cool as the drop and fire style but seems like a better way for range and accuracy. I think keeping the propellant behind the mortar in a tighter tube should help both. You could experiment with different propellant but be careful! I tried Ether in a tater gun once! It blew the PVC threaded cap off the back! It was an old cap. I should have used new fittings. Luckily I had the ignitor on the side in the double walled section of a connection. But a weak spot is a good thing as long as you point it in a safe direction. Always inspect your gun! Say after 5 - 10 shots or so. Any sign of a crack or questionable area ditch the whole thing! Or at least put some weight on it to test and see if it moves or flexes! Potatoes fit tight but when you get to tight tolerances on any bullet to barrel fit your chances of a explosion increase big time! PVC is sharp when it breaks!! Keep us posted on #2. Stay safe and have fun!
Yes. I use nerf mega xl darts, foam football rockets. Just have to make different barrel attachments for the rounds or different diameter rounds all together. Anything you can cram in there.
PVC cost he’s gone up quite a bit but I’d say about 35-40$. Tho if you plan to actually use it in game you might find that it isn’t rly practical cuz pvc is about all you can shoot, but I’m building a version 2 & that’ll be able to shoot more stuff like foam and have better range.
@@The_Rogue_Workshop I'm working on a airsoft mortar right now I'm thinking about have a nail in the bottom of the mortar and once the shell hits the nail c02 will release and shoot out what ever ammunition u put in there
Could you please explain why the one without the click is not right? I live in the EU and those things are not as widely available as in the US i think and I mostly see the igniters with the bright red caps instead of the darker red one you use in your video. Any advice?
The goal is for the igniter to ignite on impact, I’ve found that some of the cheaper ones tend not to ignite as well and break super easy. I’m not sure if the shade of red indicates quality or not. I hope you found something that works!
Just a standard push button. Tho like I said try and get a better quality one, some of the cheaper ones don’t work in this application. One that ignites when slammed on a hard surface is what your looking for
No not officially, but the range is about right for some backyard gameplay. As for lighter ammo wood might work nice although I haven’t tryed it myself, if you do let me know how it works!
Well I wanted to ask why my projectile wasn’t going far. I used ever so slightly different parts for mine, like a threaded coupler and threaded plug instead of the adapter and cap, but when I fire it the projectile maybe goes 10 feet. Is it the butane? Is too much leaving the butane hole? Is the seal not good? It’s a mystery to me.
So I think you’re not getting the right gas to air mix, try waving it up and down 5 times instead of 4 or using less butane, I had to experiment quite a bit to get the right mix. When you get the right mix it’ll maybe go 80-90 feet if you aim it right so it’s not very powerful but it is satisfying to use lol, if you’re looking for something with more power I’m planning on making a v2 with more power so stay tuned for that.
