I'm not a Thai,so is my opinión,I think is more like a honour that your Kruh gives ti you meaning you are ready for battle,If you are a Budist is all good if not I think is good too,some things have a religious background but instead of doing if for budah you can do it thinking in your God

You wear it before a fight, and take it off when you fight.

The mongkon isn’t religious in itself it’s just Thai tradition
