BUY HEAT 'n BOND on Amazon (affiliate link): bit.ly/Buy-Heat-n-Bond - Making no sew pillows is easier than you think! Use a product called Heat n' Bond, with just your iron and old pillows, and suddenly, you've transformed old pillows into something fabulous!
Get the materials list: thriftdiving.com/how-to-make-...
Here are some things to keep in mind when using Heat n' Bond, straight from their website:
IMPORTANT
*Pre-wash all clothing and fabrics before using Heat N' Bond Iron-On Adhesive. Do not use fabric softeners.
*Don't overheat Heat N' Bond; this will cause an insufficient bonding.
*Don't iron over the plastic instruction sheet.
*Don't sew- due to the unique thickness of Heat N' Bond's adhesive machine stitching is not recommended.
*It is machine washable. For best results use the delicate cycle and warm water.
*Heat N' Bond is not recommended for projects or items that require dry cleaning.

Thank you, thank you! This just what I needed...I use "heat/bond" in lieu of sewing quite often. My daughter and I have been trying to find certain color pillows and did not want to spend a lot of $$$$. I have a bunch of pillows that colors no longer match decor so we can cover them easily and quickly thanks to you!!

Why not just leave the 4th side completely open to make it easier to put the pillow in, THEN heat bond it shut? Thanks for helping us "no sew-ers" this came out really cute :-)
@ThriftDiving
@ThriftDiving 5 лет назад
You can leave the 4th side open but if you want the corners to be really crisp, it's better to create them first and leave a little opening. :) Glad you like the pillows! :)

Beautiful fabric combinations! I never would have thought that burlap would make a good pillow. Does Heat and Bond stand up to washing and drying? I have dogs so I like to wash mine regularly.
@ThriftDiving
@ThriftDiving 7 лет назад
Thanks! Glad you like it! Yes, it does hold up to washing and drying. :) But it also depends on what kind of pillow you use on the inside. Make sure that pillow is washable, of course. ;)

this is an awesome and the easiest project so far... just a quick question... where do i find the heat bond? also, will it wear off after washing? would be nice to know.. tia Serena!!
@ThriftDiving
@ThriftDiving 10 лет назад
aditibhambare , I'm not sure about the washing. I never wash mine. HA! :) I get it from a regular craft store. You can probably find it online. If you're concerned about washing, look to see if your craft store has a velcro. I've heard there is a velcro with just a sticky back on it! :)

Amazing, I am upholstering a sofa. I don't have a sewing machine. I think I can use this heat and bond thing to make the sofa seat cushions. I would like to add a zip to the cushion seats so they can be removed for washing. This is my current stumbling block at the moment. So do I hand stitch the zip to the fabric since I do not have a sewing matching to install the zips ? Any tips will be greatly appreciated. I will have four sofa seat cushions to create with zips. I will greatly appreciate any advice. Thank you.
@ThriftDiving
@ThriftDiving 9 лет назад
alexia5102 Hey Alexia! This is a tricky one. You probably could hand-stitch, but you'd have to make sure your zipper is in there tight. I would recommend finding a used machine, though, and teach yourself some basic stitch and practice putting in zippers. It's super easy. It would make your upholstery project more solid. Hope that helps!!
@alexia5102
@alexia5102 9 лет назад
I have no access to a machine. So unfortunately, I will have to hand stitch the zips.First, I will practise putting on some zips though. I think I can also attach the zips using that heat and bond thing as well as hand stitching the zips, which should provide me with some reassurance. I don't know whether this will work, but I am prepared to give it a go. Because I don't have a sewing machine. I have to try something.
