Dave starts laying out white fabric and a white jacket - "There's no way he's going to make this costume from the thumbnail here." Dave proceeds to make the costume from the thumbnail.
This man’s a menace! You can’t contain him! Builder, model maker, political activist, costume designer, male model. :) Inspiring as always Dave. Happy Birthday from the UK.
What a great build! I love to see two different iterations of the same "build" by you and Adam. It's fun and instructive to see different methodologies of the same project. (I.e. soldering station, costume, or end tables) Happy Birthday David!😮
I love everything about this costume! I love the subversive “VOTE” skull, I love how you made the tie line up with the shirt, I love that it’s all hand-drawn and painted, and I love that - as a professional model maker - you only paint what the camera will see! Why paint the entire shirt? Dave, I am sub’ed to over 200 channels, and yours has quickly become one of my favorites! When you get back to SF, maybe you could collab with Adam again and get another bump in views and subs? Your high-quality content deserves a much wider audience than us lucky few that found you early on!
When I put on the suit for the first time, in a rush to get those last shots, the paint on the collar was still a bit wet, apparently. I was just told, two days later, that the back of my neck was red.
Amazing video. Nice, exceptionally important, not so hidden message. But man....., the smack in the face with the spot on pattern matching that came out of nowhere..... I tip my hat to you sir.
Loved the video! When I first moved to Maine in 96 I lived in a tiny cabin in the NW mountains with no electricity, or running water and I had the same wood stove. Needless to say, I quickly upgraded to something air tight since it was winter (as you and I both know that thing can't hold a fire longer than three hours). Man, I felt the first three minutes of this video, because I remember my oil freezing all of the time! As a retired social studies teacher I loved the graceful civics PSA, and as artist I dig your attention to detail - not only in the costume, but also with your video. Have a blast in Portland, and safe travels back to the San Francisco!
I'm inspired! I see that you are using Lacquard Textile paints, can you tell me where you picked up the suit? This is the first video of yours I have watched and I really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work! :)
I believe it's fair to say that it's the most extreme dutch angle possible - splitting the line between vertical and horizontal format. Let's just agree to call that a Double Dutch.
Dave, love the video (as always) and yes: things are happening in the wide world (some of it absolutely awful) but this project (and any we do) helps us cope and get through the times! I myself have spent the last 3.5 months making my very first Artoo Detoo. And also yes: vote! Vote for yourself, vote for those you love, and vote for those you don’t even know! Vote to make this world a better place for us all!
