My mother made me this when I was expecting my first child & nobody saw I was pregnant, So 47years later I am going to follow your instructions and make another ---Many Thanks from England.
FIVE MINUTES! It took me near on FIVE HOURS to fray the edges on my 100% wool vintage bouchée - and it was worth every moment. Fantastic instructions. I have had this piece of woollen fabric for years and I knew one day I would find the perfect garment to show off the turquoise, brown and rust loose weave. You Laura have made my day, thank you.
Absolutely brilliant - and very clear instructions thank you - I really like the way the poncho can be worn in different ways too. Thank you for sharing.
The last time I remember wearing a poncho was in the 1970's. My mother had crocheted one for me out of granny squares, but I only wore it a couple of times because she used an acrylic yarn (I don't like wearing anything with acrylic in it). But THIS one -- made out of cotton flannel that breathes and looks like a light-weight wool plaid - oh boy! I could enjoy wearing it 24/7 :-) I've recently seen ponchos being modeled from many kinds of fabric, from knock-around casual to dressy. As the song says, "Everything old is new again." These are great instructions; I especially liked the fringe, that covered seam, and different ways to wear it. Thanks, Laura.
Just found this project and I’m so into ponchos recently! Great directions and I think I have just the fabric for it! Have watched several of your videos and they’re very informative! Thank you for this! May be my New Year's project! Happy New Year!
My younger sister loves ponchos! I can make her one for Christmas 🥳 Also, getting this tutorial..... Well long story short I'll probably start wearing them too!
Laura could you do a tutorial on sewing a fleece or flannel zipper long cape with a hood for winter..love your videos..thank you for another wonderful video.
Oh! Laura, this is just the ticket for this weather we are having... Just love the material! I just got back from Joann's. Wish I had seen this before I went ! Lol lol
Thank you for the tutorial. I made one today. Made a mistake but nothing to major. My fringe is at the bottom instead of the two side edges *sigh*. Still looks very cute though.
Okay, a few things... I bought a beautiful wool blend outerwear fabric on sale. Looked for a pattern at the store to make a Poncho/Ruana, it was $30 for the pattern I liked. NO Way, thought I could just RU-vid or search a How-To. I have watched over 10 videos, this was the easiest to understand. My only wish is that the finished item was on a real person or you and at shot that shows the whole garment. The table blocks the view and as a visual person, I would love to see the “flow and drape” to see how it “moves”. Thank you for the video and all of your great information.
Can you give the width and length of your fabric please? I would like to make this from a pashmina scarf that has a fringe on each end and is a reverse print on each side. Written directions would be extremely helpful. The scarf is finished on the long ends. I really enjoy your videos.
