Hello Susan! I want to thank you so much for these inspirational and educational videos! I've started planning my own lampshade projects thanks to you and I'm really excited about it! I hope to see more videos from you of your projects, have a nice day 🌻
Hi there. I really didn't view this video but saw the pleated one and I made a gathered one similar to yours and it turned out not perfect but looks quite good. I slightly pleated the bottom and stuck it under and placed a bias tape to hide the finish. Also added a ribbon and made a small bow too and added a gold fringe to the bottom.
You can use any kind of fabric, Michelle and then spray the finished shade with fire retardant solution - the kind used for upholsterd. Hope this helps.
Hi. Thank you so much for the great ideas and the way you teach us. Can you please show us how to make the long lampshade fringe ad it is rather expensive
Hi Sarah! About to embark on your fantastic project - quick question, why do you have to bind the bottom and what do you bind with? Can you use a strip of old lining? Is the top binding to sew the lampshade onto? Thanks so much :)
You need to bind the bottom and the top of the frame so that you can stretch and sew the fabric to the frame. You can use strips of cotton sheeting cut on the bias or ready made cotton tape. x
Hi Susan, thanks very much for making these. I do have a question though: where does one buy the frames for these various lampshades? If online, do you have any specific website recommendations? I'm hoping to make some new lampshades for some thrifted lamps. Thanks! --s
