Thanks for checking out our Quoridor game build! If you're interested in making this for yourself, we've got plans on our website: whitelabworkshop.com/how-to-make-a-quoridor-game/. Comment below with what you think of this game and any other game ideas you'd love to see us tackle!
Brilliant video. I was just looking at this game, trying to figure out how I could build it. So nice that you've already done it and I can learn from your hindsight. Love how you are working with your daughters. Thank you for teaching your daughters woodworking!!!
Thank you very much, Leslie! I love seeing comments like this! And my daughters really enjoy woodworking, when we have projects that they can help with. There are definitely more coming with them!
Ok so I have put off making this. I finally found a couple of your videos and your super helpful link to the logistics tonight. Even though your equipment is superior to mine I had previously made enough jigs to make this work. I have not framed any yet but I managed to pop out two sets tonight. Neat thing is once you successfully make one of boards grid you can use it to very quickly clone as many as you desire as a template. It didn't take long at all. Eventually I will frame them in and make spots to hold the tiles like yours but even without them it still looks nice and plays well. I sewed some bags to hold the pieces, at some point I will make a custom box to hold them. But seriously a great last minute build for Christmas gifts.
Thank you so much for the comment! I love to hear about people who make their own versions! Everyone has their own situation regarding equipment, so it’s good to come at it however you need to, with the gear you have. You made some excellent gifts with this! Enjoy sharing them with your friends and family!
This one is a bit tedious, but otherwise not all that difficult to make. And since it’s a strategy game, it can be really fun to play! Simple rules that are easy to learn, but hard to master. Thanks for checking it out, Rita!
Looks like a fun project. It always amazes me when people use a dado stack. They don’t allow them in the UK or at least they are hard to come by so I’ve never used one. Anyway great work and interesting game too never seen it before 🙌🏻😃
It really is a fun one! Dado stacks do a great job of plowing out a dado in a hurry. It’s definitely nice to be able to use them! Thanks for the support, Kirstie!
I liked your video and I think this would be a fun game. I cannot find my dado stack since I moved, but I think between the cross cut sled and my regular blade with multiple passes I could do this. I might make the player side border boards a bit broader and put enough cuts for the corridor game pieces there parallel to the game board. TY for posting your video.
You did it once again! Our newest favorite video of yours! Your helper is getting more involved and better and better. I cant get glue to work as well as she did!! I have never seen the game before but it definitely looks like one that makes you think, which is awesome. I thought I understood the rules of the game but I did not understand why she did not just go straight to the end you placed a piece that would allow her unimpeded access straight through. I have to play this game!!!! Great job!
Thank you, @Poor Man! We had a great time making this one and continue to have fun playing it. Once you get into it, you’ll realize just how much strategy is involved. I was trying to draw her into a path that would take her several moves to get down. Then I could ruthlessly block her off and cause her to waste several more moves to get out. Lucky for her, she caught on and avoided it. Since filming, she has continued to up her game and has beat me fair and square several times!
seems really cool. I need to get some info on this game. the only thing I'm concern is the frame around the solid central panel. important thing is the assistant like it!!
It’s a great game! Good point on the solid wood central panel. It’s small enough that I would expect any wood movement to be minor. I guess time will tell me if I’m wrong!
Thank you! I don’t have a video on my crosscut sled, but there are plenty of great videos out there for making one of your own. I recommend checking out William Ng’s 5 cut method for ensuring a perfect 90 degrees.
She could have won easy at 16:43 by placing a wall at the point of her finger and continuing her player forward to the corner square. Game Over. Quoridor is a fantastic strategy game 2/3 or 4 players. One official rule but there are at least 4 and more other unofficial ways of playing.
