How to make a Rainbow Cake 

My Grandmother baked me a cake like that for my sixth birthday. The was 54 years ago. She was very creative. The kids at school wouldn't believe there was such a thing as a rainbow cake. If I knew where the little jerks were now, I'd email them this video...; )

The music that goes with this is seriously awesome. It makes me feel like I'm going in an epic journey. Love it! :)

Best cake baking video ever.

If you take that big serrated knife that you used to cut the cake with and cut the roundness from the tops of each cake, and then stack them bottom up, it'll come out more evenly. :D (So much cake! It looks so delicious!)

Hi, I didn't use a box mix it was made from scratch and the amount which would make a normal 2 layer cake was divided in to 3 layers, so I made 2 batches. So I would say if you were going to use a box mix if you used 2 boxes and then shared the mixture between 6 tins, not sure what the thickness of the layers would be like but it should be ok. Hope that helps :o)

@RAWRimmafishy34 White usually means vanilla type of taste. It's a simple basic cake. I like making a french vanilla to pop up the yummyness.

Vanilla! Non-non! Use whippped cream - if it is a rainbow, it has to be on something light, sweet, and fluffy :3

@SolohaKZ - I used the gel colourings which gives you a great colour with only a tiny amount, as a parent I didn't want to pump my kids full of liquid colouring & this gave the desired effect

Hi, yes the box shown in the video is the exact one used. It's Wiltons concentrated gel colouring. Happy baking ;o))

@fanime1 - Hi yes it was the Wilton's concentrated gel colouring which I used, you only need a tiny amount to get great colour depth and it doesn't thin the mixture too. I have always been happy with the results it gives. Happy baking :o)

@MrStupidCupcake you need at least the gel food colouring or the dye colouring because regular food colouring is mostly water, and it will water down your batter.

I was born on 29th of february. This year my b-day will show up (as you'd know it comes once every 4 years), and I want to make myself this amazing cake! I once tried a red velvet and understood that here in Italy food colouring doesn't work with high temperatures... so I'll purchase wilton's online. Is the one you show the EXACT type??? Thank you so much! xxx

Here in the UK this is what we call a basic Victoria Sandwich mix which is flour, eggs, sugar & butter. If you need an exact recipe just let me know :o)

@MrStupidCupcake -I don't lie :o(, I was meaning the gel colourings in that statement as you only need a tiny amount of that type to get the depth of colour, if you used the liquid type I suspect you would use most of the bottle to get the same effect :o)

@supercoolio120 - I think its better than the liquid stuff as you dont use as much and the colours are much stronger :o)
