Hey, yeah you have to add a parameter to the opacity input. From there you can change the transparency of your material. I assume you would have to experiment a bit with a fresnel node in between and maybe mix it somehow with the texture
@@UnrealMatter Thanks for that. Unfortunately, when I change the shader Blend mode to Translucent, the rest of the shader reacts really strangely... The nice refractions you had going seem to stop. Any ideas?
@@SeanForsythTutorials Maybe take a look at this: forums.unrealengine.com/t/ice-material-edges-completely-transparent/346541 He doesn't use opacity but refraction, maybe it is possible to achive a better result with this method. But I don't know if it will be that good as in the video :/
of course you can use it if you like, i also mentioned that you can use displacement if you like. this will get more realistic results for sure if you don't want a smooth surface. the ice i made is for frozen lakes for example, it doesn't have bumps or displacement.
