For anyone else wondering, the best tool for twisting stock is a crescent wrench with a length of rebar welded onto the immovable part of the jaw, which give you a handle on both sides ANd an adjustable fit so you can use with all sizes of stock. Btw, Josh great channel. Just found it a few weeks ago, I am also a christian and love the openness you have here. Great work keep it up!
A lot of people use those, and they certainly look nice (never tried one to be honest). But I don't know if I would say they are the best. Again can't say since I don't have one. But you need a welder to make them. Anyone with a hack saw or band saw can make one like mine. And I do believe the ones I make work just as well, albeit not adjustable. Thank you so much man! I really appreciate the kind words! Comments like these are what keeps me making videos :). More content coming every few weeks!
And I was initially thinking just looking at it that you would have had 2 vices hold the outer sides and spun the middle. Of course the vice(s) would have to be on a slide or track to allow the distance to change when doing the twist. Love the vid! I don't have a vice or a torch or a drill press. Yet! 😇😎😀
I have heard that works too but requires a lot more force and is just generally harder. Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it :). Never too late to start acquiring tools :D.
SharpshooterJD I checked out your stuff on Etsy. Your touch mark would look great on the pieces you have displayed there. I use a wire wheel in a variable speed Bosch right angle grinder. Set on the lowest speed that grinder is a safe and portable way to wire wheel polish small items. Good luck.
One day I will do a touch mark, but it just hasn't been worth it to me yet. That sounds like a nice setup. Do you mount it? I have to have the tool stationary and run the piece over it, it's way more efficient for me that way than it is holding the tool. Took me a while to figure out I could mount a wire wheel on my bench grinder lol. Before that I was using my angle grinder or my drill press to power it which didn't work all that well. Thank you, happy new year!
