Beautiful, loved the fabric you choose.

Thank you for this short video with enough details for a true DIY’er to complete this project. I used hot glue but did not think to iron the seams 1st 🙏🏽. If you don’t want to DIY, then go buy. Simple

I think hem tape would be more reliable.

@@colleend2977 yes the fabric came undone after so many pulls. I will try the hem tape next time

My cat has broken all my blinds at the bottom leaving gaping holes This is a great way to reuse my broken blinds and save some money. I plan to double side it so they look nice from the outside as well.Thank you!

This is a great idea! How do I know which cords to cut, to keep the up and down function in tact? Thank you in advance.
@lasantajones9703
@lasantajones9703 Год назад
Hello. One cord turns the blinds in & out, this cord should be lighter. The tension cord would be thicker.

Great job on the camera motion wind threading the blinds that were attached to the fabric. Did you have your camera on a roller or was that edited together?

If your fabric doesn’t have a liner it will look like the back of your fabric

Never glue! Use stitch witch and velcro and some lining!

It depends. Ironing the seam then gluing it down seems very practical for most ppl diy’ing this project. But your suggestion is great for a more quality seam hold. Hot glue is my fav baby 👌🏾🙂

I just know if I tried I’d mess them up. So. I’ll be buying my roll up shades. It’ll be a change from the blinds.

I tried my 1st on the oldest blinds we have in the house. But you can essentially buy cheap blinds & find fabric around the house to practice if you have the time & will 🙂

Yes, I’ve had mine for over a year now, and it still works great up or down. Can’t say I move it daily, but for what it is, we love it.

Which cord are you cutting in order to raise them up and down?
@chellybabyme
@chellybabyme 2 года назад
That's where she lost me too. I think if I do this I will just leave all of it intact and then glue my fabric onto evenly spaced strips and leave the rest of them there
@lasantajones9703
@lasantajones9703 Год назад
The cord that turns the blinds in & out is the one you cut cuz you won’t need to turn them anymore. This cord should be lighter. The tension cord will be thicker. Just play around with the 2 cords b4 cutting to see which one is which 🙂

There is no cord to pull - how do you secure these in place?
@modaciouslav4792

Yeah this doesn’t seem like it would work very well. To push and pull it up and down and hope it stays there just doesn’t seem like a very good idea

I think it looks good. If the fabric backing is white, works better since you will not see the cord or slats. Most duck fabric has the print on front and white back, is the best weight to use

One CRITICALLY IMPORTANT THING to do when measuring windows is to take 6 measurements instead of 2 in order to get the most accurate size possible for your window treatments!! ALWAYS measure length at the left side, center, and right side; then measure width at top, middle, and bottom! Of these measurements, use the largest dimensions for length and width. Additionally, BEFORE you cut anything, use the Carpenter's Rule: Measure twice and cut once! This rule is especially important when using expensive fabrics and fabrics in limited supply. Also, in home decorator fabrics, be mindful of pattern repeats, which will also have a tremendous influence on the yardage of fabric required for your shade, especially if you have to match the patterns in the fabric to properly make your shade. Some of my suggestions are included in commercial home decorator patterns in fabric stores and online. An alternative to mounting the Roman shade in the traditional way is to make a curtain rod pocket at the top of the shade, attach a cord lock guide onto a covered board at the rightmost or leftmost edge (depending on which side you decide from which to operate the shade), and place eye screws or cord guides on the same board as your cord lock at the top of the shade. The cord farthest from the cord lock will be the longest because it will be threaded from the bottom of the shade to the top, across the top through the cord guides or eyes, run through the cord lock, then down about halfway the shade length. Subsequent cords would be threaded in the same way across the shade. The cord lock needed will depend on the number of cords needed to properly operate the shade and the fabric weight used for your shade. Additionally, with cord locks, no cleat needs to be installed on the wall or window frame. When installing Roman shades in an apartment, or where drilling permanent holes is undesirable or prohibited, the procedure described may be a feasible alternative. If you can find a Magic Shade® window treatment, that may clarify what I am describing; however, I understand that Magic Shade® products are discontinued. On the whole, you did a great job with your shade!
