I have an amazing ability to under or overwater house plants which always ends with the plant dying, so today we’re going to make a plant stand with a hidden self-watering reservoir that allows the plant to regulate how much water it needs and when.

Have you considered drilling a hole in the wood and lengthening the strings so you can fill the entire pipe with water, thereby prolonging the time between refills?

That is a really good idea and maybe even redesigning the base to have a easy fill reservoir or something. Might be time for version 2! Thanks!

We feel your pain about under and over watering plants. We manage to kill silk plants. 😂 As for the plant stand, we like what you made. Definitely a one of a kind and it looks wonderful. We really like the leather work you added!! .

You say you are done...."but are you?" Hehe. At first glance I thought that was a copper pipe and though oh cool, the pipe for the stand serves as a reservoir....just leaving that there as food for thought. Seriously though, great project.

Thank you so much bud! Yeah I recently stumbled across it for outdoor planters, so I figured why not try to incorporate it into a plant stand...I still have every confidence that I will find a way to kill this plant...not my strong spot 😂

Love this idea, self watering plant pots, combined with woodwork, combined with leatherwork = perfect mix. Just gotta find some space for this to go in my already plant packed house before I get started 😆

Dude, you are killing it! Oh sorry, shouldn’t use that wording in a plant video, but you know what I mean. Lol! Aren’t floor flanges the best!? Video is nicely paced and has well placed “hooks” that kept me interested all the way through.
