If you find yourself in need of a fully sequined dress, this tutorial walks you through how I made mine! All you need are sequins, pliers, jump rings, and a bit of time.

For reference, my hip measurement is 38 inches, and the dress has 2-3 inches of positive ease.

Thank you for making this video, it's so helpful! Especially the measurements and sizes of everything. I'll be using this as a reference for some costumes I'm making for a play. I've been trying to figure out the measurements and this just saved me a ton of time lol

thinking of making a similar design for the eras tour but i'm unsure of the kind of sequin to use. PVC sequins will be lighter but i'm scared they will bend, break, and form visible dents easily. acrylic sequins are sturdier, but a lot more expensive and heavier (keep in mind I'll be dancing for 4+ hours). would you recommend using the lighter sequins? do you think pieces like yours are too delicate to be worn on the floor of the eras tour?

Unfortunately, I think the ones I used would be too delicate. The strap would be the most concerning part. If you could find sturdier ones for the strap/upper part of the dress (that supports the most weight) and use the lighter ones for the lower half, that might be a solution! The only trouble with that might be finding ones that look the same in the two different materials.

Hi! I used at least 6 bags. I can’t remember exactly, so I would get a couple extra to be safe (especially since the amount of sequins in a bag could vary by brand)

How to take care and clean it?

If you use the plastic sequins, it should not really need cleaning! However, if something is spilled on it, I think wiping it with a damp cloth should do the trick. I recommend storing it flat (instead of hanging it)

I want to make this but a crop top and a skirt, any advice?

That would be so cute! The top could probably follow the same pattern as the dress, just shorter, and the bust area would be the widest part (for the dress it was the hips). As for the skirt, I think a straight tube shape could work, and you might try experimenting with adding clear elastic at the waist to pull it in/keep it from falling down. Good luck!
