I’ve been riding for 50 years yet still find it hard to turn on full lock. I realise now that the problem is in my head, not the bike. Great explanation.

I'm guessing it means try full lock turns slowly with both feet down paddling before moving onto the stages shown in the video. They won't be as sharp but you get a feel for it.

Yep, practicing this very thing a couple of weeks ago. In mid turn I stupidly squeezed the clutch. Still don't know why but I did. The bike went right down, just like you said. LOL! I got a nice bruised ego out of it. But since no one saw me, it didn't count, right?

Hey motojitsu, I noticed I sucked at turns on the street. I turned really wide and I thought it's cus I was too coward to lean. But watching this video... Coward is not what it was. You lean the bike from the stop, lock the handlebars, and go at your own speed. I've practiced this at empty stop signs today... I can turn sharply now. I'm learning so much. Thank you

I've been getting better, more comfortable on the bike... there's a LOT i need to work on of course but with the help of solely just your videos I'm becoming a better, more confident and safer rider! thanks man. ps... bought both of your books and Lee Parks' Total Control v2 and they have really helped understand more of the theoretical side of things, and your books, with the diagrams are epic training tools. thanks! 😊

I use this to actually practice the blue belt parking spaces slalom drill. This way I never have constant momentum of movement helping me out. I'm FORCED....to practice friction zone+proper throttle and some full turn lock for around 80 ish % of the turn. So far..I'm making it every time within each next parking space ( around 17 foot turns realistic/worst case). Cheers Greg !!

What if you're on a hill and making a right turn, then what? You can still keep the right foot on the rear brake to hold yourself still, left foot on the ground and go right. You know why you can't? Because you never practiced this and go out and see how this feels. Go do nothing but right hand turns and keep your right foot on the ground. If you're not willing to go out and practice, you'll always have excuses and hate on those who can. linktr.ee/GregWidmar

I liked the way you explain. Good job. And I liked another video of yours about the cornering on blind road curves too. And returning to this video. I'd like to ask about letting the clutch go softly to gain tork in order to raise the bike after the clean turn. Your bike is a high powered one. Do you think that this technique (gaining power) would work for smaller cc bikes as well?

I did this for a week religiously with my Harley before the MSF course. At the course if you eased out on the clutch you didn’t need idol. It just went by idol. Doing uturn drills I didn’t even touch the clutch nor the brake just a tiny bit of the throttle and i was doing figure 8 in the blue box with no hesitation and I was counter steering like you said. Now on my bike you have to use the clutch and brake because it will be too fast doing uturns…

I’m fine doin sharp turns from a moving position but I still struggle with from a stopped position. I took classes and they said to turn the handlebar all the way while stopped then ease off the clutch and follow through but I kept struggling with confidence in moving forward. Hoping to get more practice. I need to build my confidence and trust that if I just go through the way I’m supposed to, it’ll go smoothly.

Took the MSF course back in May and just now starting to ride again. Today went on a test ride and amongst a multitude of wrongdoings, accidentally opened the throttle wide while turning right and lost control, think it was mainly due to gripping way to tight and not leaning enough/not counter balancing. Do you absolutely have to use the throttle in this scenario though or would using the friction zone entirely through the turn be possible?

On a cruiser-style bike with forward controls, counter-pushing down on the foot peg is less effective than on a bike with mid-mounted foot pegs. Do you need to counter-lean more to make the corner? Or, do you have other advice? Thanks for all of your great content!
@thefaboo
@thefaboo Год назад
Personally, I find the initial lean and accerating quickly enough for the bike to "take over" are the key points. Though my bike's only 450 pounds or so, so holding it in a stationary lean is pretty easy.

Good intentions. A little shaky. In ERC we learned to do this from a dead stop with the forks forward (no turning to lock before moving). Scooted butt to outside rather than pressure on peg and used look press roll method, and kept going straight after the turn whereas your demo drifted to the left right after the turn. Thanks for your effort. The lines you showed are helpful for home practice.

I find it easier to release the clutch only, without any throttle. If I add throttle the bike straightens up and I can't hold the full lock position. I have to be very light on the clutch otherwise it will stall. This only applies for full lock position u turns.

What is the technique to do this without knocking any side cone off if you are asked to make the 90 degree turn from the middle not from one of sides with your bike having saddle bags on. I tried your approach but the lean of the bike from middle always knocked off the cone on the turning side. I was also challenged to put the front tire right on the line not behind to make the turn.
