Thank you so much for such great instructions. Always wanted to use these looms and had NO IDEA how they worked. I can knit, and crochet, but had to teach myself by turning the book upside down as I'm left handed. (Same way I taught myself to play Guitar!) But with RA and occasional carpal tunnel (I'm permanently disabled) bothering me on long detailed projects I find this amazingly easy and so simple to do! I love it and your videos. Thanks for helping me to keep my love of arts and crafts alive! I adore Quilting, Cross stitch, and Embroidery too! I'm too young to hang up my yarn and needles yet! (56!) So you have no idea how much I appreciate this! These tears are from JOY! Bless YOU Virginia! Can't wait to get a long loom to go with these as well! I'll be watching all your videos! Muah Dear! I so appreciate this! Suzi

I really like the way you go through things step by step. The counter was a great idea! Thanks for the type. I also will incorporate adding the tail of my slip stitch onto the loom, vs letting it hang,. I started a quilt on a small loom and thought that I could do rows and then sew them together but using the e stitch, it does roll really bad. So I will try it on the larger loom. I want to prevent it from curling, which videos teach a different stitch that will not roll on me. I really appreciate your videos and great explanation
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 10 лет назад
Thank you. The garter stitch helps with curling. You can do smaller squares this way and sew together like you wanted. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9hLijHF4B5I.html

I've seen a lot of people saying their stiches got too tight when doing the E stitch. I found that if the cross-over point of the wrap in on the INSIDE of the loom, the tension is good and never gets too tight. You must wrap the pegs in the same direction each time. You'll know immediately if you did it backward.
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 12 лет назад
By zig zag do you mean using both sides at once? It will create a smaller panel or a thicker panel depending on the yarn.

Right now I''m doing the figure eight stitch for some scarves. Can I do that for a baby blanket?
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 6 лет назад
You can just be careful with what gauge loom you use so the "gaps" won't get the baby's fingers stuck.
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 12 лет назад
@CraftyQT You most likely would have to do it while you are looming the blanket. As I mentioned in the video, you can start with the garter stitch all away across for so many rows, then switch to only doing a certain amount of pegs at the beginning and end of your room. The "middle" of the loom would be a different stitch. Then end the blanket with garter stitch all away across the loom for as many times as you did at the start of the project.

@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 11 лет назад
It depends on the size of the baby blanket you make, the loom in the video is about 22 in long. It came in a set of 4 through Amazon.
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 12 лет назад
@uteautumnlovr You want the blanket to have garter stitch on the top and bottom along with sides right?
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 11 лет назад
What I learned if if you knit a row, then purl a row, then knit a row, then purl a row (repeat this process a few times and it will help). Also, you can "block" the blanket when done, by wetting it and laying it out flat to dry.
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 11 лет назад
You can invest in an "S" type loom that should create a wide, adult size panel (blanket). It would be similar to the DA Loom Infinity II loom I have a few videos on but they are no longer for sale. Try CindiWood looms. Or, you can make panels with the biggest loom you have and then sew together.

@SimplyIntertwined 10 лет назад
I'm not totally sure because I don't needle knit so I don't know how the gauge would be switching to a loom. All you can do is try. If you can put loops of the blanket on the loom it might work. Again not 100% sure

There are 62 pegs on that Knifty Knitter long loom. As for the width you would get, I can't remember as it has been awhile since I used that loom. You can cast 10-20 rows and use a flexible tape measure to see the width you get. Hope this helps.

Hi Virginia..I am new to this and have watched the video over and over but I am still wondering something. I am making a baby blanket and it lovely on the loom, except where I am skipping the end pegs every other. I am getting a slant on my blanket and was wondering once I am done and take it off the loom am I going to have a square blanket? I love your videos!!!
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 10 лет назад
The only time the end pegs are "skipped" is when you are working your way back and forth. The end peg becomes the "first" peg in that row and has nothing done to it (in the video). I think I had a small slant. If you wan to, practice making something smaller, like a dishcloth, and take it off the loom and see what it looks like then.

I do plan to do a start to finish blanket video but it will take a while to film but I do have this video that shows a crochet bind off two ways. (Another RU-vidr might have a "stretchy bind off" video but tend to use the crochet bind off method and have had no complaints when I have gifted blankets.) This is the video showing two different ways, do a swatch first to figure out how many chains you need for the loom you are using (typically 1-3 depending on the loom) Hope this helps! : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6KBq6BMJIrc.html

You can and then join together. As for how many, I'm not 100% sure. I haven't used this loom in a while so I don't remember the measurements of the finished project depending on the amount of pegs used. I would say make one and then measure and compare to a normal blanket and it should give you an idea of how many. I am pretty sure at least 4 or more. Sorry I couldn't be more help!

Use two yarns and do the garter stitch I talked about, making sure to have both strands when purling. * garter stitch= knit a row, purl a row. Check my video about stitches I use if you don't know how to do purling yet.

My loom has 32 pegs and is the long one. When I take it off the loom will that be the length or width? Sorry, but this is my first blanket and my third project. Thanks for your help!
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 10 лет назад
It will be the width but it won't be as wide as the loom. It shrinks down a little (on any loom). Do you have a tape measure? That will give you an idea about what width you have on the loom now. Any more questions don't hesitate to ask, that's what I'm here for! :)

I honestly cannot get this... I make skip knot and e wrap around then make sure before I go back there's only one loop and continue to e wrap until I'm back at peg one. When I start to pull over they're really tight and I'm struggling to get them over pegs. I've redone over and over again trying to wrap really loose and keeping lots of shock in my working yarn... I really want to make this baby blanket but can't get past this first set of pegs without it being to tight. Starting to get frustrated. What am I doing wrong. I can do this when it goes in continuous circle bit then it's like a sleeping bag and not blanket. I don't get it.

did you know if you cut a short piece of drinking straw, and put it over your yarn at the beginning. Use it to wrap around your pegs, instead of your fingers. It goes quicker and the yarn doesn't jump off the pegs. Just a thought. Happy looping!
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 6 лет назад
I have a video about something similar but over time, I was faster without the straw and just preferred not to use it. But I know it's a great help to a lot of loomers. It's all about finding what works for you. :) Happy Looming!

Is there another way to bind off the ending of the blanket, instead of using a crochet hook, if so can you please post a video? Thank you
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 9 лет назад
Kim Melikian You can do this without a hook. ALthough I use a crochet hook it is only at the end so you could find a different way to finish it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KI_i9Nr8l1s.html

how do you cast off the odd ball stitch at the end ? and is there a way to bind off the knitting with out using a crochet needle ?
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 9 лет назад
steffy2385 Usually a crochet hook helps and as for the "odd ball" it should cast off fine with the others.
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 11 лет назад
Yes, just switch them out or use two different colors at once, depending on the look you want.

I have a lot of my blanket done but my bottom and sides are rolling what can I do about it. At the begining I have cast on using the E-wrap and the 2nd row Purled 3rd row purled then the rest is E-wraped but it is stilled rolling. I even put in 2 more purl rows over half way down to give it a little of my own style and to try to stop the rolling. Help me please!!

I was wondering if you can do this on a round loom? Would I do it the same way?
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 6 лет назад
It would depend on the size of the loom. You can make flat panels using a round loom but the size would be different. You may have to panels and sew them together.
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 11 лет назад
Did you do a garter stitch at the begining and end? If not, you could try blocking it or adding a crochet border around. I don't have a video on adding that because I don't do it.
@jangor

hi virginia. i was just wondering how wide your final blanket is? i am not sure if i have the same long loom as you, mine is about 22 inches long with 62 pegs, it looks about the same size but mine is green. i want to make a baby blanket, with a basket weave pattern and a seed stitch border, with a bulky yarn, but i'm worried that my blanket won't be wide enough. do you think it will be wide enough? i don't really know how wide a baby blanket should be.
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 10 лет назад
I can't remember exactly how wide it was, I haven't made one it awhile. But, I believe we might have the same. This loom was the biggest out of a four pack that was : blue, green, yellow, and pink. (Biggest to smallest). I've made baby blankets in different sizes and width depending on where the person lives. (Hotter weather, smaller blanket lol) or if it will be used in a crib or over a car seat. Once you work a few rows you will be able to gauge the width better and can use a flexible measurement to get an idea.

You leave a peg empty and work back and forth for each row if that is the question you have about it.

okay did what your video loom but i cant get it to turn to a blanket and continue. i did two e wraps and put it over each stub. then do it once around and put over the stub or twice e stitch again and then take last loop and put over each stub? im confused to make it continue each row.

You are working this as a flat panel. Have you made any other flat panel projects before? Check this video as it might give you an idea of how to work back and forth. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ALnH-jzR6To.html

Is it possible to make a single loom blanket with a Boye scarf loom? There is no peg on either ends of that loom. I tried myself and the stitches were too tight. :( Please can you help

Dianne Yue You can try doing panels on it then "sew" them together. What stitch were you using?

@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 3 года назад
Make sure you are paying attention to your tension on the yarn. You might be wrapping too tight which can cause the yarn to break. Check this video out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lqjVl8tooBk.html

I am blind and I know how to knit only that pattern. I don’t know how to do the pearls pattern. So do you think that if I were to do the E wrap pattern if I were to wash it, would it take the curl away?
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 10 месяцев назад
Some people "block yarn" after making it to help with curling, I haven't really. You should be able to find instructions somewhere on it. I think if you washed it, and then laid it flat with some weight on the ends it might help. Also, sometimes the curling of a blanket gives it character. Plus once a person is curled up in the blanket, are they bothered or notice the curling? I don't think so, at least not the people I have given blankets too. Good luck!

@@SimplyIntertwined thank you. Because I thought it was a bad thing if when I knit it curls.
