If anyone is still struggling with this tutorial, I created an 'easy to install' version of what is created here (FREE macro download): www.buymeacoffee.com/ryanosborne/e/113589 You can use it on the edit page and only requires you to add your profile picture to get up and running! Just follow the instructions on the buymeacoffee page. PS: buying me a coffee is not obligated :) I'm giving this away for free.
This is a GREAT tutorial! I was able to make my own and it made me so proud that I was able to make my own. Before this all I could do is make a stinger transition, I felt like it also helped me a LOT with learning DaVinci's node system and how they work together. Thank you! I recommend anyone trying to learn should stick with the tutorial till the end!
Amazing video. You are sharing great content on your channel. As someone who is just picking up Davinci Resolve your content is gold. I really have to dig through more of your content to see which amazing things are possible with this amazing piece of software. Keep up the great work. You should have way more views and subscribers for the quality of content you put out!
This is a fabulous video. So easy to follow...almost makes me feel like a real video editor lol. Seriously. Thanks for the tutorial and thanks even more for all the helpful details in the description!
Hey man. Thanks for the useful tutorial you put together. I have a little better understanding of Fusion. However, I downloaded your generator and installed as per the instructions, but all I get is a black screen over my footage. I'm on DaVinci resolved 18. I've tried looking for the alpha component of the background but to no avail. Would love to hear your ( or anyone else's) thoughts on how to make it work. Cheers
Hello Ryan.... Fantastic. I am new with Davinci and moreover, my native language is Spanish. It took me a full day to get it work...but I learned a lot. Thank you.
Hi Ryan, thank you very much for another one in a series of very helpful videos. Keep doing what you do and you'll definitely get more audience - you have definitely deserved it! I liked and subscribed as appreciation of your efforts and because I don't want to miss your next videos. Content and quality is at least on par with some of the big channels! Thanks again :)
@@RyanOsborneUK Once again thank you. I have now had the time to play around and even though I have no clue about fusion, with your instructions I was able to adapt it to my needs and can use it on upcoming videos. Thanks again, highly appreciated :)
So I wasn't able to make your file work then I decided to give it a go and do it from scratch. I'm pretty close, I learned so much in this one single tutorial, thank you so much Ryan 🙏🙏🙏 Still struggling with 1 things though: The corners radius on the white rectangle mask isn't working. I mean I can see the corners are roudned in the red outline, but the corner of the white box are not. Any idea what that could be? Again, thanks!!
Hey! Glad it's working for you Hard to say what the issue is but I can maybe help here if you reply. Go into your fusion composition, highlight every node and copy the nodes. Then come back to RU-vid and paste this into your reply. It'll spit out a whole bunch of code and I can copy this into fusion and take a look at it myself if you do this.
As somebody new to Davinci this is absolutely what I was looking for. Also I'm having problems exporting this on Windows without the apple prores option? Anybody figured out a workaround to export and render the alpha for this!?
Hi Ryan, thanks for the great video. I have downloaded your .setting file and installed it. I create a new fusion clip and add the generator. It prompts me for the thumbnail file and all seems good. When I run the clip, the thumbnail isn't visible, nor is the like button. Any thoughts as to what I am doing wrong? Using Resolve Studio v18 on Windows.
@RyanOsborneUK Hi Ryan, yes 4k footage, although I think I have the timeline set as 720p if that makes a difference. This morning I tried changing the size of my fusion comp to both 4k and HD and in both cases, it behaved the same. I have started to create the thing manually, which is a great learning exercise in any case! :)
@@adwuk I got exactly the same error. I switched the image, but i only see the "subscribe"-button changing and the red click animatin (just the red stripes)
@@RyanOsborneUK I had another go this evening. When using the generator on a 4K timeline it works fine. Anything else, and it misbehaves. FWIW, I got around this problem with my hand built composition by forcing the background nodes to have a specific resolution (e.g. 1080p) and not use the auto resolution option. Any background or text node needs to be set this way from what I can tell. Then you can switch your timeline resolution and the fusion composition will still work.
Hey Ryan, I bought the effects version you have in your shop but it just shows as Black regardless of what I change. What am I doing wrong? Is it compatible with the latest version of Resolve?
Hi, the template doesn't work on my computer. I'm using an M1 Pro Macbook Pro. I installed the macro twice and restarted by conputer/Resolve. Any tips?
Osm bro Thanks a LOT LOT I will try to do this myself if I stuck I will check your com file This is very helpful. thanks. a lot one more time ...pls pls make this type of videos that help RU-vidrs.
Ryan, that was very useful! If you have a lot of cursor movements and clicks, such as mimicking a screencast tutorial, is there an efficient way to reuse hover-overs, clicks, starbursts, etc., so you don't have to spend so much time manually for each interaction? Could instances or another approach be used to help?
Great video, complex and interesting stuff. I have one problem tho. My fusion composition is saved in 24 frames per second and I want this fusion compostion on video that was recorded in OBS in 1920x1080 HD 60 FPS. The problem is, when I put fusion composition in my project with the video from OBS my whole project is downgraded from 60FPS to 24 FPS. Can you help by telling me how can I change whole fusion composition to be 60 fps? I changed the pictures I've used in fusion composition to be 60 fps but that doesn't help.
Hey, so the FPS needs to be set before you create any compositions. If you go to File -> Project Settings, you can set it from there (as long as you don't have a composition already). If you already have a composition set up, try creating a new project. I hope that helps :)
Thanks for the info! I have no background in computers much less editing and I've been able to get a lot further than I ever imagined with this tutorial. I am stuck at one point though, I tried to DL the pointer files but I dont have the same folder configuration to put them in. Could it be that I'm using the free version?
I think i figured out that what i thought was just the like button and cursor file is just the whole thing completed. Do you still have the like and cursor files available?
@@tworaccoon_tv Hey! Yes, I still have these but didn't include them in the download. I'm going to upload a new version to buymeacoffee soon (few folk have had issues) so I'll include the assets for you too. Will let you know once it's been done.
Hi Ryan, Thank you for making this video. I'm new to DaVinci and this has been a great help. The only part I'm stuck at is downloading the Node that you made. Is there a program I need to be able to import these as the file is just coming up as .comp file that it won't let me open. I'm sorry if this is a dumb question!! LOL!
No problem! Hopefully I can help you. If you’re on the fusion page (you NEED to be on the fusion page) then you should be able to go to file -> import -> fusion composition and select the .comp file. Let me know if that helps
@@RyanOsborneUK Hi Ryan. I am on the Fusion page and when I try to import it it pops up with "Not a valid clip for importing composition" ?? It doesn't even let pick anything. It just pops up with that.
@@simonfarmery Okay I think I see what is happening here. This usually happens when you don't have a timeline set up first - - So first of all, you have to ensure you have a new timeline created on the edit page. - Then once you've done that, drag a new (blank) fusion composition into the timeline from the effects panel. - Then right click the fusion clip on the timeline and click on "Open in Fusion Page". You'll then be brought into the fusion tab where you'll see a single media out node. - At this point, go to File -> Import -> fusion composition and select the .comp file you downloaded. - You will have to replace a few nodes in there to get it working for you (i.e. the profile picture). Hope that helps! Let me know how you get on :)

Thank you so much for this Tutorial, I downloaded your file but unfortunately I can't get it to work, I only see a black screen, thank you anyway and please enjoy the two coffees I bought for you 😀
Ah dude! sorry it's not working for you and thank you for the coffee. Did you install the roboto font too? A few folk had the black screen issue because they hadn't installed the font :) so Resolve can't get the .settings file working properly.
How to animate the pfp is at 8:03 Subscribe button is at 8:19 I'm sorry that it's hard to follow - I've already been given that feedback on this video, so you're not alone in thinking that. All I can do is try to improve it next time.
Hello Ryan, great tutorial! I just wanted to test out the premade .comp file on my DaVinci Resolve 18.6 but when I imported the .comp file in the Fusion page, I see nothing and lots of red bordered - error looking stuff. Can you help me with that? Thanks!
Damn, thank you a lot! first I thought it would not be easy but then I saw you left a link here! thank you so much! PS where to add these files? in what folder?
You’re welcome! Hopefully you can get it working for your videos :) WINDOWS C:\Program Data\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Templates\Edit\Generators MAC Library\Application Support\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Templates\Edit\Generators
SOLVED - If you are trying to export this clip on Windows, then follow Casey Faris tutorial about exporting Fusion clips with alpha channel. However, before doing that, you would want to create a compound clip combining both the Fusion clip and the audio clip of mouse clips. This will link the 2. Then follow his method to export the clip with alpha channel and audio. I am using DaVinci Resolve on Windows. I don't have the Apple Prores option for exporting. How do I export this clip with alpha channela and audio? I watched Casey Faris' tutorial on exporting with alpha channel, but couldn't export the audio along with the clip. Please help me out.
Thanks for the video, it was really helpful. The pre-configured Davinci file didn't work for me but I was able to create the Subscribe Like button from scratch, learning Davinci for the first time on the way. Would definitely watch more How to Animated CTA Videos, such as: - Like + Comment CTA - Like CTA - Comment CTA I feel confident enough after watching this guide that I could do it myself but I suspect you would have some great ideas for refinements.

Hey Ryan just want to say your videos have helped me a ton in the past to get things going with my channel. I'm unfortunately stuck at the moment on 5:05 trying to get the svg file to copy as you did. I've already downloaded the svg file from the link in the description but when I go to import it into DaVinci it brinks up my file folders and I cant seem to find it anywhere. trying to trouble shoot on my own I opened my files out of DaVinci and dragged and dropped your download into Davinci, it asked me if I wanted to download it and I clicked yes but I'm still stuck hopefully you know what's going on because I'm clueless.
Have to add some credit here to Ryan, for a superb easy to follow tutorial. Tried the premade one but couldnt get it to work properly so took the plunge and made my own. Cant believe I actually managed it! Will feel a lot more confident now adding more fusion creations in the future! One problem was the end though - I didnt have the apple option to save at the end. Googled to try and find a suitable alternative, finally found out how to just render it (with the alpha option) and can now drop my subscribe button on all my videos. Great job!
Hi Ryan. Amazing video, really helpful! I seem to be stuck on the "like + subscribe" step. I downloaded the ".setting" file and added it to DR. When I drag it in as a node in the Fusion page I get prompted to pick an image (I tried a 500x500 PNG and JPG). After I do that, nothing happens. If I reduce the size of the node I can see a cursor on screen 2, but nothing else. I guess you replaced the link to your Google drive with the ".settings" file on buymeacofee? Any idea what's going on with the .settings files? I'm using the DR v18 free edition.
Thanks mate it really helped me 🙂 u got one Subscriber more :-) But your accent is uugh where are you from ?? Scotland or so ? :D i have to listing very carefully :D
You know what, this tutorial fricken rules. I started and gave up a few times because it looked daunting, couldn't quite get the pre-made comps in the description working, but eventually I trudged through and learned a ton about fusion via this tutorial. Super clear, super well structured, great video. And now I've got an animation I'm proud of, so thanks! Take a sub.
Hi, Ryan. Thank you so much for your video. I have been following it and trying to create my own version. I downloaded your media assets folder for the like button, but the problem I am having is that none of the nodes were separate, meaning the hand, wrist, and background were imported as one node. So I couldn't manipulate the hand to rotate it or anything, I could only move it around and resize it. Not sure why that happened. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Hey Tiffany, thanks for watching! Hopefully I can help you. Not sure where things are going wrong so I'll just quickly run through the steps here. Inside the "Media + Assets" folder, you'll find a file called "Like Button Shape.svg". In Fusion, when you import the Like Button Shape.svg, go up to the menu bar and make sure you use Fusion -> Import -> SVG to bring it into Fusion. It has to be imported this way, you can't just drag it into the node viewer. A box will pop up, asking you to confirm the resolution of the icon, which is 2000 x 2000. Just click ok on this. It will be brought into Fusion as a single node to begin with. This is a group node. To see the individual elements contained in the group, double-click the node and it should expand. From here, you can highlight and copy the Hand, Wrist and Background1 nodes (You don't need the Background2 or Merge). Click outside of the group and right-click, paste. Then connect it up to your node tree! Should be the same as mine in the video from that point. Sorry if that wasn't clear! Good luck :)
Hi Ryan, thanks so much for taking the time to communicate with me on this. I will definitely go back and do these steps. Your tutorial is greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Bit of Constructive feedback. Followed this up till the Animation out and seems to be a chunk of information missing. I'm stuck trying to figure out how you did this, or I'm I missing something?
Thanks I really appreciate it. I had downloaded a bunch of those templates and none of them worked. I wish I came across your tutorial sooner. The time it took me to do all that I could've created it myself.
Thanks for making this video. Really useful and you make it all easy to follow along. I think I'm going to have to go through this a few times to get it all but keep up with the good work 👍👍
Hi Ryan, I follow some of the other channels which focus on Davinci, Casey Faris (talks to fast for me) Mr AlexTech, who I really like his style and pace, however you are the first channel that by the end of the tutorial I feel I have learnt a process. Now, I do very little true editing as most of my videos and just a continuous flow, but the subscribe button is a pain every video. Now, does my version look like yours....em no. I have a few more transform buttons to let me resize things, but it works, so far. Have still to do the cursor and click. Keep plugging away and you will become bigger, if thats what you want to do. All the best from an Old Scottish Vlogger in Thailand
This was an awesome comment to read David. Thank you! 😊 the good thing is you can export your work and then it’s there as one file forever. You don’t need to keep doing it every video 🙌 All the best. Always a pleasure to hear from other Scottish RU-vidrs 😊🏴
I must be stupid cuz I'm struggling like crazy after you did the first 15 frames with the width and then frame 40 - 15 the height. I do that and it removes everythibt I did with the width and I'm so lost after that part 😭
Hi Ryan! This is a great video! We seem to be stuck at 6:50 where you select the first rectangle mask and apply it to merge 2, 3, and 6. When we connect the rectangle to the other merge nodes the logo, like button, and subscribe button all disappear and seem to exist within the border of the rectangle (You can just make out the colors on the edge when resizing the white rectangle). Despite our best googling, we cannot seem to figure out how to get it to behave the way you show in the video. Any advice here would be greatly appreciated for some finance guys who dont know much about video editing! :)
Just an update on the above: It seems there are some known issues with AMD drivers and the freebie version of DaVinci. Everything explained in the video worked fine after purchasing the product and updating the render engine. Thank you!
@@dividenddudes Thank you for the follow up on this! Seems others were hit with this too. Hopefully a simple update will help them and they can keep using the freebie. Did you NEED to buy the full version to get it working?

@@RyanOsborneUK No need, instead of the premade ones i made everything my self, i took the opotunity and grow instead of "just" copy paste it... i needed a hour or two till i was happy with the look of the like button xD... but all in all i'm happy what i got. Was a realy nice Video, the only thing i strugled after that was how to make a alpha from it cause i use win 10 but i also managed that and use it now for 2 or 3 video's :D
Awesome tutorial Ryan, followed it step by step and managed to create it. Also learnt alot about the node system and fusion. Only problem is that i dont seem to have the Quicktime Apple ProRes options on my Codec dropdown 🤔 Any Ideas?
Can’t seem to get the download to work. The subscribe button is messing up. Is there a fix? I made my own from scratch but was way lost towards the end.
@@RyanOsborneUK maybe I’m a bit more computer illiterate than I thought. I followed the instructions for Mac and loaded the .setting file, when I pull it over to my timeline it’s blank, when I open it in fusion it has two nodes (both red) “likeSubscribeRyan011” and MediaOut1. Am I doing something wrong?
total noob here, I've downloaded the easy to install file. Got it on my edit screen, inserted into timeline but I can't seem to edit the properties, eg the subscribe box is black I want to change to red?? I've only got options in the inspector to change the box color and click animation? Not the subscribe button color?
Literally was sitting here the whole time like "omg my brain" n then you said "I've actually saved it and you can download" and now I do believe there's a God 😭😂 thank you so much you really are the best for this !! Now teach me how to make the corners oval/rounded 😫❤️
😂 I hear you! Fusion can be quite complicated. If you click on the rectangle mask node in fusion, there’s a control called the corner radius on the right in the inspector window 🙂 I plan on giving away an effect that makes this much easier in the future, if you want to keep an eye on the channel 😄
Ryan, Thank you. A great tutorial! I think this tutorial would work best for someone who has at least some experience with using Fusion. I successfully created the end result, however for my first foray into Fusion, there were a whole bunch of additional micro steps not included that this newbie needed. I got there and probably learned more than most because I had to look those micro steps. All Good. Now I need some more help. Once completed I dragged it, from the project I built it in, to a power bin. Unfortunately it will only run in the project I created in. If I drag it into another project, only a part of it plays and then I get the horrid red screen of "Media off line." I run a 2023 Mac Mini M2 Pro (16/1) and have my external drive right next to the Mini. I had this problem right after creating the subscribe button. It was the first thing I did to test out my hard earned work. Any thoughts what I may have done incorrectly or do differently to get it to operate in other projects once put where I need it to be? thank you
@@RyanOsborneUK OK, my bad for not watching the last little segment would have told me what I needed to know - well almost all of it. Back to your video - for me, unfortunately close captioned was turned on ,which I had not done, so the text covered up some of the details that I needed to see. Now I know to turn it off if it is a problem. That would have solve some, but not all the issues. Probably for folks who are somewhat familiar with Fusion, they would not have been as challenged as i was. I'm just barely 2 months into Resolve. It might be worth saying the level of Fusion user any specific videos you create are for. This way we will know what to expect. For the abso;ute beginner every minute step needs to be identified. Otherwise we need to open a new tab and watch a video on how to do that. One big problem for me was importing the SVG. One cannot Just drag it in or import it into the Media Bin. It has to be imported a specific way and then it comes in as a node, which is really outside of a beginners understanding. I got that figured out but it took quite a while. Learned a lot along the way. So after completing the project, I simply dragged the composition into the power bin. That did not product the desired results - hence the "Help" in the comments. After following your last segment instructions I saved the exported version to the external HD where I store my media. Then dragged that into the power bin. That got the graphic I created to work without the Media Offline red screen of frustration. This allows me to put it in an existing timeline and play w/o the Red Screen. However I need to learn the additional steps to be able to move it (or resize it) from the middle of the screen to the lower right corner. Thank you
Ryan, I went back and got the sizing issue taken care of and recorded some mouse clicks and put them in - albeit after a number of tries. Good news is I learned a lot. Thanks!
@@RyanOsborneUK Please do...and make a tutorial about it 🙂 You could even cheer 'outside' the border at the click, but that might make it a bit more difficult. Curious what you will come up with.

Thanks for this tutorial, I'm no newbie to animation, but never used davinci resolve so kind didn't want to waste tons of time learning, but this seems pretty easy going. Just thought to suggest this may need an update, with the new youtube animation, just the last part needs doing. Would be a good video for you
